Those galleons though, and if Donovan is going to peace out, Commodore has to take Tasunke as a real threat. Not worth ceding 5 cities to, but no mad dash to lib Steel whilst Galleons isolate that end of the continent, rip up nets and blockade coastal tiles etc.

That way it would be kind of an indicator whether you are output-wise making ground or falling behind compared to your opponents. In the current form it's more of an empire size stat. I think I've sometimes made the above calculation and derived my opponent's average food surplus per city out of it. The results are useful, but since counting the pop points of your opponent is boring that's not something you want to do regularly (or at all).
I'd say it's more useful as an empire stat, though. Growth is all fun and games, but it's generally the best summing-up stat of how you're doing overall.

I'm intending to introduce a no score mod game option that strips out a of the demographics stuff, not to remove all the information in the game, but to limit it to more basic info. Stuff like that change to the population stat would be pretty useful.

Commodore's population number is skewed because of his enormous capital, which is certainly not useless. HAK... took my city and just decided not to attack my stack. Comm is the most confusing thing of all tbh. HAK isn't a very good player so him bungling things isn't very surprising, but comm is just completely weird. Is he just drawing things out so he can have more fun or what? It's not like this game has even been close for the last 30 turns or so. The only reason why this game seems 'close' is that comm doesn't just drop the hammer and lets HAK flail around. The second place player is drafting hundreds of maces. That's not exactly a strong position. |
