Can lurkers express an opinion without appearing spoiled? What if there is an option d) that the player missed ... can a lurker mention that?
My initial thinking was that a lurker could mention d) but only if the player had already mentioned a) thru c). It would be similar to a lurker pointing out an additional strength / weakness.
My list above is not meant to be ' the list' but rather to get us thinking and drawing up our own code of conduct. So, any suggestions?
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Here is an addition ...
6) Lurkers can ask for screenshots.

I didn't think your question was out of bounds. I was concerned that we'd then argue one way or the other on their actions, which WOULD be bad.
The code of conduct looks ok, I don't have any further comments at the moment.
And re: the impending war: Now Rego's team knows something is up. Building the road was really foolish. It might save them time later, but now Rego's team has 5t to prepare what they can (mostly spam warriors).

Ruff, I think that people are a little too overly concerned about this. I don't think any one has actively tried to spoil the game. However, a little better judgement on the part of some would be quite helpful especially in Super Star Sullla's thread.
Really the only hard rule you should need is that You should not ask or bring up anything about something related to someone else's thread.
You shouldn't need something that reads like a chaining system from a TCG.
Those are my two cents anyways. Of course you have more experience in these things than a SPer that just likes to read good reports.

My two cents about the spoils is that if you know something either about the map or about the other teams that they would not know, and that would influence your suggestion however much, you shouldn't say it.
That being said, I think there will always be a ton of gray area that will be hard to define. For example, when someone posts a dot map, clearly any suggestions will have an impact on other teams, but at the same time there are going to be cases where the lurker will recommend only on the basis of the screen shot posted (for example, I can't remember for which team, but I commented on a proposed dot map, saying move a city 1S, solely on the basis of what the screen shot looked like...I couldn't remember what terrain was where, or even what civ was in that direction).

I know I've seen plenty of dotmap advice in RBP1. That's kosher, as long as it's based on the screenshots you see.
I wish I could see the look on Whosit's face when he finishes IW, and finds Iron in the BFC of his cap.
And athlete's got his other warrior in range of a soon-to-be empty capital of rego... This is going to be fun. It seems one of the two favorites is going to get taken down a notch.
And if Paris falls, do you think Sullla will be able to figure out what happened immediately? My guess is "Yes, there will be plenty of info for him to figure it out."

It would be amusing if Athens gets sneak-razed but Paris holds and they have to rebase their empire around their new capital which is right on the doorstep of the Ottomans.

Well, I hope that I didn't contribute too much to the spoiler problem and certainly wasn't intending to (I have only just caught up with the recent discussion here, and am now a little worried). I was pretty conscientious about making sure to avoid this (responding with general concerns for the situation and de-emphasizing anything that I was aware of from other threads as being relevant and throwing in plenty of irrelevancies so that they have to decide for themselves what is relevant. Making things as general and non-specific as possible. Mainly I was interested in throwing out as many crazy/oddball/imaginative ideas as possible) but you never know how much you are giving away on an unconscious level (as we are often seeing in the diplomacy...).
Sorry if it went too far, and let me know if it did!
It's pretty easy to avoid giving anything away regarding tactics or map knowledge, since here it is pretty obvious what is spoilerish. But I think that the hardest thing is not to unconsciously give away your knowledge of diplomacy (in particular the diplomatic trust levels). Easiest way for people to avoid spoilers is to comment at the times when they are not very up to date with the other threads...

Technically you're giving away information whenever you post since you modify your behavior based on spoiler information. The only truely fair way would be to not have lurker thread and to lock people into one thread.
