Turn 026
I went with Cyneheard's recommendation of SE-NE and it looks like the land is still pretty narrow: To get an idea of just how unusual this crescent island is, here's an overview:
I don't think you can call it an island if it's big enough to be a continent.
E-NW next for the scout I think. Make sure to send the worker 1S onto the PHF when the pasture is done. We want a mine anyway and if copper is discovered we can opt to mine that instead of chopping.

Aren't we teching Wheel after BW? I did that in my sim and built a road SW of the city. We don't need to road the hill since it'll cost a full turn of movement anyway. It will be quite a while before we can build the settler.

Sorry, correction. A road doesn't help because of the river, but we should have time to chop two forests before the settler finishes. Second chop (after the mine) and settler both finish t40.

Ok yeah I think you're right. Anyways, I'll head in-game now as the turn rolled recently. I agree with E-NW on the scout.
Also, Commodore just whipped something (at the beginning of this new turn). That's... awfully early? I'm a little confused by that. I didn't even notice him being in slavery. I'll check it out in-game.
Alright, turn rolled, scout move:
Big mess o' jungle. 1NW next turn? Keeps us on best defensive terrain. One depressing thing: Somebody is already at sz4. We're stuck at sz2. Our start sucks soooo much. Speaking of: Cmoooooon copper. I do believe there's something 2S of LJS, and of course it's probably uranium . Commodore did indeed just swap to slavery. Noble thinks he revolted specifically to whip the settler, which would make sense why he then immediately whipped something the turn after revolting. Let's hope it gets eaten by a wolf right? One odd thing about potentially whipping a settler is there's no real evidence of a warrior completing: Or is that little spike right after BW the warrior? Though a warrior completing the turn before whipping a settler to completion is also really bizarre. I think that looks more like a pop growth. Anyways, if the settler was already moving when he revolted, that's quite an early settler and it's definitely without an escort... though all he has to do is get it settled and he's fine - animals won't enter borders. I tend to think NH is right and he did it just to whip the settler. So that's about it. Now let's just hope for copper? If we get it, we're going to have to have a micro party tomorrow night and rework our plans.
That looks like a 1k increase for a pop growth. You can see how it compares to ours earlier, looks about the same.
