[Spoilers] Old Harry's Game

Yeah, you could write a program that reverses the order of the lines. You'd need to set the height of each line to be the same (by making the width of the box wide enough so that each line is only one line of text). Maybe if I get really bored I'd write it...

now thats a slaughter! good job!

question: what happenned to MOM? I assume you aborted when war started, but if IIRC correctly you were pretty close to completing it, no? did someone grab that, or can you turn production back on real quick?
Please don't go. The drones need you. They look up to you.

The mom city got razed. frown so not even fail gold for it... four forests I should have found a better use for.

I'll use that program noble! Although probably not all that often...

In the tech thread Serdoa just said:

Quote: It might take me very long to play this save. I know for a fact that I moved my units out of a city, but appearantly they are now again sitting in there. I don't know why and I don't know of any mechanic responsible for this, so something is really weird here. And before I haven't figured out what it is, I won't play on.

(And no, this can't be due to porting as I am still at war with Harry.)

Edit: Fuck it, I play this when I get home, which will be in around 8 hours. Still no clue what happened, but I won't waste my time anymore on it. You clearly outplayed me in this war anyway Harry. But you should have had to decide between taking Exeter and losing Altricham this turn, which obviously you didn't need to.

And just for the record, I don't think a minute that you did anything wrong Harry. I believe the game fucked up, and if thats not the case it probably was me. Just makes this war a joke now

I don't think he realises I still can't really protect Altrincham if he moves 6,3 and attacks over the river. In any case I think I should offer him the opportunity to replay that last turn. Or at least show me what he meant to do. What do you guys think?

What likely happened was due to a mysterious bug that can occur if the game is saved midturn and loaded up again later. Very occasionally the second session's actions would not be recorded. N7 had this happen in 23.

Normally I would say that Serdoa should replay his previous turn but that may perturb the combat results even if you do the same thing, so I'm not sure what would be fair in this case.

Thanks for the info Noble - I'll be blaming you Gaspar-style when this turn all turns to shit! lol

I haven't opened the save yet, but I think I'm going to have a very stark choice - take Exeter or protect Altrincham.

I think it makes sense for Serdoa to raze Altrincham. He thought he was keeping most of my empire when he took Exeter, now he knows he's just doing what damage he can. I think I'll take Exeter back pretty easily if he moves out, so the question is, how badly does losing Altrincham wreck my revenge plans? It's got a granary and a library and a palace (I think - some idiot hasn't put a pic of it in his spoiler thread for ages). Protecting Altrincham also protects the cities on the other side of the empire, but it's just not that amazing a city. Barnet could be a better capital to be honest (how does that work - do I get to choose my new capital if I lose the old one?)

Taking Exeter lets me cut Serdoa's stack off from reinforcements and regain pyramids (which I'll use for police state! twirl - should have done that before the initial Exeter attack, but needed the beakers from Rep to get to HBR), then I can (attempt to) set about dismantling the stack before it does even more damage.

So I'm leaning towards taking Exeter - but lurker opinions are very welcome (I think it's only fair, I need some help here!)
