Sure it won't change in the short term, but Spullla have been able to 'murder' HRE counter-strike force (most of all HRE spare cannons and cavaleries).
It could be fair to let HRE have a little chance to use them and have a mini-tactical victory

From what Speaker wrote Dantski bombarded, he killed all defenders and let Dantski retake the city. By the rules this is illegal but I am not sure if it made a difference. If they instead take the city and gift it to Dantski, would it not also pop it's borders immediately? And should they not even get a popup asking if they want to give the city back to Dantski at the second they take it?

I would tell them that they should be aware of that but (if my assumptions above are correct) it would not make a difference if they would replay it by the rules so I would refrain from a reload.

edit: Jabah, if my assumptions above are correct Nakor would lose his counter-strike force anyway.

Am I the only one who thinks this post sounds a bit... "gleeful"?

Probably not intentional, but I won't be surprised if Spullla take offense from your tone. smile

It is quite possible that the culture works the same with a gift.

It would have probably changed only marginally the results, but then Spullla would have used a few more units to kill the remaining of HRE stack, and possibly would have to put some 'defenders' inside the city otherwise it would/ could be razed during HRE turn. (And/Or would be slightly more exposed to a possible counter - even if HRE has no reserve, Spulla doesn't know for sure)

Edit - just for confirmation, from Spullla last picture, there are 14 (!) Danstki muskets defending the city (and therefore protecting Spulla Cavalries and generals)

I have changed it.

I had spent some time initially to make it sound neutral, kept changing it, couldn't find the proper wording in english and the result was indeed a bit 'sloppy' smile

Constructive criticism, my foot. People are afraid of posting even slightest criticism in Spullla's thread...This wouldn't have warranted a discussion and editing, if the post is in any other thread...

As a side topic, does this war show that cannons are a pointless liability in multiplayer Civ?

From the rules I would say it is debatable if Dantski would not have been allowed to move his muskets in after he got gifted the city. The rules cover what happens during the attack and if he would first bombard and suicide his cats and then they would attack and take the city that would be legal. It is not clear if they still have to follow those split-rules after capturing the city.

But anyway, lets suppose that would not be allowed. Could Spullla not gift him the units needed for the attack and he could gift them back later?

Cannons are awesome, but yeah, ladder players generally modify flanking for later-era games.

@Krill - Can you make a ruling here? Of all the rules, the "no mixing attacks across players" seems to be one that's pretty darn important and ripe for abuse.

I don't think so, but there must be used for "defence" and not walking around.
The main point is to have control of all the tile around a city.

For exemple there:

There is no way Spullan cavalries would dislodge (without any bloodbath) CG2 rifles entrenched in the city with cultural defence, and if Spulla try to approch with a cat stack, a HRE stack of cannon (with rifle back-up) would crush it.

Spulla are well awarded of it since they are not even trying (and are pestering about the lake that is messing it all smile )
