I would advise you to save a new mid-turn save whenever you've done RNG-affecting moves and are switching gears to domestic stuff.
I have to run.

Not that I know of. I think loading a save from in-game, as opposed to from the main menu, can cause bugs.

What Seven said, also if you save mid-turn before resolving popups, the unresolved popups show up for your opponents when they play their turns. To be safe I always resolve all popups before saving, I always save to a new file, avoiding overwrites, and I always exit to main menu before loading a save.

I just turned off delayed popups to avoid the bug entirely. It's good for Pitboss though...

Thanks for the advice guys, I think that should stop it happening again. Is there a "how to play PBEMS the rb way" thread? This stuff would be handy to point people to...

Turn 89
I've told Serdoa about the non-replayed combat and he's happy okay to continue. But where did his stack go? Did he delete to avoid giving me XP? Ah. Oh dear. If I understand the combat odds my Spears will get +65% on defense, while his HAs will get 20% withdrawl chance. So it makes sense to just sit and absorb what I can, hoping to promo-heal on the interturn before he gets another chance to attack. I have three cats here that I'll try and do some colatoral with, then stuff the place with axes and HAs from Crewe. First cat hit one HA for 2 and 6 HAs for 0.5 and died Second cat (with barrage II but damaged) hit one HA for 2.2 and six for seamingly random amounts before dying - is that a function of barrage or just because the HAs were already hurt? Third cat withdraws, having damaged five HAs. I've moved the axes and HAs in for defense, at which point I wonder if I shouldn't take out a couple of HAs while I have the chance. Down south I've roaded the site that got pillaged, meaning I can take out the two axes and the great general medic: Stupidly attacked over the river at 87% to lose to the axe. Then used George to kill Hernan to get the extra XP. Next turn I need to reconnect the fur, then I really need to re-settle for copper or tech Iron Working (did anyone spot that I was still building a spear after Darlington got razed? ). I have a couple more turns of Police state, then I think Representation is the way to go. Important (and slightly loaded) question - should I now use my slightly stronger army to push into Zerg territory or do I sit tight and wait for his catephracts to roll in?

Turn 90
Serdoa ran away and Azza and Hydra completed a wonder each... Whipping a settler to resettle (on?) the copper and will start another (for Altrincham) in Forest Green after this last HA finishes. Hooked fur back up, whilst we don't have copper I'm building a warrior for MP - I have got quite a few units that could do that job, but I'm planning to send them to say hi to Serdoa... As long as Exeter is our border city he's going to want it, so maybe I can stop it being a border city?

Turn 91
I'll revolt to Representation which allows me to break even at 10% research, so Iron working will only be about 5 turns. It also allows cities to grow to higher happy caps and let some whip-anger dissipate. Serdoa is licking some wounds over here... There are 13 Horse Archers so I need to resettle Darlington for copper next turn and build some more spears. I have a warrior to upgrade if necessary, and have decided on part-building a warrior in Exeter to finish next turn instead of the lighthouse pictured. I'm not doing the complex planning that I was before the attack, but even if I was I don't think it'd make much difference to the outcome of the game right now. I was kinda hoping that Serdoa would just kill me and put me out of my misery. Since he didn't I'm going for a mild version of option three in DaveV's thread in the hope the others get bogged down somehow and I can make an unlikely comeback...

I think you're underestimating yourself. The game's still early - and to be frank, the only one noticeably better than you is Serdoa, who is hurting from the war and buildup himself. You still have plenty of chance - if you take the game seriously.
