Cyberpunk 2077

You can tinker with the game files by editing "inputUserMappings.xml" in Notepad, which I initially did with some success to change movement to my preferred arrow keys and most confirmations to Enter, but when I tried to edit them again to change Enter to the Right Shift I screwed something up, and now I can't even get past the main menu, because all of the prompts show up as "INVALID KEY" or "NONE".

Anyone mind sharing a clean (or at least functional) copy of the aforementioned file?  I foolishly neglected to make a copy of mine before editing it.

I decided to give it a whirl now, as the PoE-Event didn't really grasp me last night. But my connection is slow and I still have 15 GB left to download, which is ~3 hours. Which is even longer because my wife does play PoE so using our bandwidth for a download is a no-no. But as soon as I get it finished, I certainly can get you that xml-file (if it exists in the steam version).

Attached. RB didn't like me sharing as a .xml, so I changed it to a .txt.

I'm having a lot of fun with it, but I have an extreme tolerance for jank. I've had one CTD, twice quest-target npcs decided to become pacifists and refused to fire back, and there's an uncountable number of visual bugs. It's not Grand Theft Auto or Deus Ex. Did you ever play those 2D Shadowrun games? Cyberpunk is that but 3D: just enough people talking believably cyberpunky and just enough cyberpunky things you can do that I can allow myself to be immersed and ignore the hilariously sleight-of-hand cut-corners. The "finish" will come from ironing out the visual bugs, but their vision of the world is pretty clearly feature complete, and it's one I'm enjoying. Now, for $60 I could have grabbed about half my Steam wishlist, so maybe the more fool me. I doubt you'd go wrong waiting for more bug-hunting, but if the urge is insatiable, you've got my anecdata that the game's fun. Edit: I'm on PC with a 1070ti; performance hasn't been an issue, but I've heard horror stories.

Getting frustrated with this game.  Already left it a 1-star review on GOG, based on my experience of it not fucking working.

Entering Nauf's fixed code for the controls works; I tried re-entering my own controls, but that still makes it so I can't navigate on the main menu.  I know from a prior attempt last night though that I can rebind movement to the arrow keys without issue, and rebinding most of the "F" key prompts to "Enter" worked, so the issue is probably trying to replicate the Enter functionality with the right shift (which should be "IK_RShift".

Using the default / base code, the menu prompts which are missing from my edited version are Space Bar (shows as NONE; IK_Space in the code), "3" (INPUT MISSING; this is either numbpad 3, IK_NumPad3 in the code, or the other 3 key, IK_3), and the left mouse button (NONE).

Anyone who has a better grasp of the code (meaning, any) have any idea which line(s) I screwed up so as to cause the game to become nonfunctional?  I tried running a comparison for IK_Space, IK_NumPad3, and IK_3 with side-by-side copies of the functional key commands from nauf and my own, but the lines mentioning them were identical, so I have no notion of why the game won't recognize them.

I've attached a copy of my modified code.

It also occurs to me that the game is somehow not reading the modified xml file at all, hence why no key prompts are appearing and I can't click on anything... not sure what I did to cause that, either. I only edited the file name for versions I saved to the My Documents folder.

Also I think I'll upgrade my GPU, that thread made me realize mine is so outdated. Sadly it seems GPU's are all out of stock until next year.

I've been trying to buy a 3080 since September, and tried to buy the 6800 XT and 6900 XT at launch...they are all basically vaporware unless you are willing to buy a whole new PC with one inside.

I'm only looking at a 1660 Super, but everything except some low end GPU's are out of stock in the vendors I trust. I hope for those it's just due to Xmas demand.

For what it's worth, I've been running it with no issues. I enjoy it and am eager to get back to it most days, but it doesn't quite have the Witcher 3 magic, I think. That said, I'm only out of hte equivalent of White Orchard so far, so lots still to go.

Newly produced CPUs and GPUs and to a lesser extent other high end enthusiast items of the PSU, RAM and related variety are basically perpetually out of stock at the moment due to supply chain issues and slightly increased demand. It'll probably persist for at least another three months even optimistically speaking. I am working on a computer build myself and have managed to cobble together the needed parts (except I'm not buying a GPU, so that helps a lot) but it has been tough going and I have had to join Discords that exist solely for the purpose of notifying when something is in stock.

You can of course also buy the newly released products from scalpers at a 50% markup or so. wink Or yes, a few people have resorted to buying prebuilt machines just to get at the GPU inside and then they sell off the remainder of the machine (usually by swapping in their existing GPU) on eBay or in places like r/hardwareswap.
