lol that Hunter. Yeah I was wondering about Bambur not getting in at least one kill, but I also misplayed that badly, forgetting annoy double movement in forest...

From my thread after your attack:

Of course I shouldn't complain about night elves being treacherous...

Heh, yeah. I’ll write a bit more analysis after the game (likely soon) but yeah going after Bing could’ve ended the game earlier.

A little bit of post-game thoughts:

1) First of all, I think Q you played a fantastic game! Without some luck on my side (Brian killed by barbs, finding the Scorpion and capturing it) and so cramped map I think this would've turned to your victory.

2) The early war between Q and Mig was useful for me as it destroyed their relations. Without that attacking through Mig's territory + leaving my western empire lightly deended would not have been possible. Though, had Q been able to eliminate Mig it would've been a lot different case. It was a nice play with your WS.

3) It's a shame that Brian you died so early as this really turned 4 player game very quickly. I was curious to find how you play EitB as I don't remember ever playing with you. I hope it wasn't too demoralising experience for you, hope you play again sometime.

4) Mig you played suprisingly well despite losing your capital! Very good sport there and truly using your civ skills despite this only being your 2nd EitB game? I know by reading your other games that you're very good with the "regular" Civ 4 (whatever mod they use).

5) Bing, I hope you play again despite not making most of your Illians civilization. It was fun having you here, good turn player, it probably was mostly a learning trip for you as there's just so much different stuff compared to normal Civ 4 that it's not easy to see what to do. I think reading a manual of FFH could be useful to get a basic idea of each civ. I think it's still possible to download it somewhere. I mean, I have no idea how much FFH experience you had before but unfortunately you not using all the "goods" of your civ really helped me to win and keep minimal amount of troops on your border.

6) This game demonstrated quite well how warriors not being able to use copper is quite interesting but potentially also very powerful change. I think I like the change as it means that warriors can't just be massed and used as a cheap bulk and we will see more variety in units being built. Of course Svarts really benefit from this a lot more than some other civs.

7) I liked this faster start with some early techs already, it really took away the most boring turns of the game.

Q almost dead, just razed Mig’s cap by using my WS (pretty cheap trick with hidden nationality but at least it was used to something useful…). Bing not doing much, no army of any sort or Priest of Winter. Man, the strongest early ”mages” not used. I guess Bing wasn’t very familiar with FFH stuff.

Hi Aurorarcher, congratulations on the win! Thanks for reporting as well, not many ffh2 games ongoing at the moment. The more material to read, the better!

I was under the impression that it's not possible to capture cities with hidden nationality units. Maybe I'm mixing up different ffh2 modmods and their rules. But you were able to capture Migs capital with a HN unit? How did you do it?

Based on my limited multiplayer experience with ffh2 (DirectIP with friends), I always thought Svaltafar world spell was weak and difficult to use effectively against human opponents. Interesting to see that it provided you with an opportunity in this game.

You can remove HN promotion by declaring nationality. Otherwise they can’t take cities. The WS is indeed weak but it offers a possibility to declare war while having OB and not getting kicked out of their borders.

You can get the same effect with the Council of Esus religion, even without HN.

On my game, it was random luck with the imbalancing of Samhain's (in SP I kill Auric if I can before it) massive increase in barbs. If I hadn't lost my capital in two turns of wolf rider attack, I'd have still likely been compeditive. My plan was to build up a solid core, get a decent religion (hopefully the Veil) and then go attack. But it wasn't to be.

I just don't have the energy to play a serious game these days, mainly due to being busy at work. We were down to two (out of five) in the office for a good chunk of June and July and we're still short with a busy period coming in quickly.

I've never been super impressed by Samhain in the past, and didn't think building it super early would pay off, so I was quite surprised by how deadly it ended up being for you. I think I might have been in a little more trouble if not for my world spell being active at the same time.

Btw Auro, do you think Scorpions having Nature II is overpowered? I like the reward element but it's quite an effect.
