PBEM is *much* simpler for rules.
Pitboss is quicker and a lot easier for me to play in quick order. Well, count me in if everyone's OK with pitboss and we get a host
Just from my experience Pitboss > PBEM, cba to debate, I think we all know the good and bad sides for both.

I prefer PBEM but I guess as long as I get infinite, open-ended pauses to deal with RL issues, I could be talked into pitboss.

I also generally prefer PBEM. Turn splits in wars are just such a pain I'd rather not deal with them.

Can I suggest sequential-turns Pitboss? That gets you most of the advantages of both formats. No problems with any turn split or double move ruleset. No "where's the save" hunting or tracker. No "you sent the wrong save" delays. Easy for teamed players or dedicated lurkers to share and all look at the game, and easy to jump in and fill in on turn playing since there's no chasing the save around to alternate players.
And possibly most importantly, Pitboss allows changing mod components during a game. The Pitboss host doesn't do the "modified assets" lockout that the PBEM client does.

Well, since there's atleast two preferring PBEM, you'll be better off playing PBEM and finding someone else for the last spot. Have fun guys!

I also prefer pbem because I frequently play on my laptop and the ability to easily reload if I miss-click is quite nice.

Do you still need an extra player? I might be interested if Spaceman is interested in being my teammate.
Are you guys interested in banning corporations?
I have to run.

I'm fine with banning corporations, and I think you'd round out the teams nicely .
T-Hawk can you expand a bit on sequential pitboss? Is this an actualy in-game mode, or is it simply that the players agree to abide by a certain order? If the latter, is there a way to generate auto-notifications that we are "up"? I'm looking to avoid the need to obsessively check civstats .
Thanks,
Darrell

Basically it's a PBEM game that is hosted on a pitboss. One civ plays at a time but any civ can log in at any time.
Depending on your PoV, there are downsides in that it is possible to hide research and confuse demographics. OTOH, there are upsides in that you can hide research and confuse demographics. And yeah, you either need to check civstats constantly or have a tracker thread of some kind.
