Well clearly the next time you play scum should just kill zak and frame you. If zak doesn't get killed then he must be scum. wink

I guess Tasunke traded in the arsonist hat for the survivalist/traitor hat.

Definitely convinced I got SK'd rather than vigged, which means maybe I was killed for strong village play rather than scumminess.

I honestly thought I played pretty well, but this is pretty much the best outcome for me, if not for my team.
I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?

Nothing wrong with your play as far as I can tell, Gaspar. I thought you were suspicious, but I always do, so that doesn't really say much.

This ties into why I said Serdoa sucks all the fun out of the game (for me). I'll explain that now, since he wanted to discuss it after the game. Apparently, he has developed a bias towards always seeing me as scum. That's fine, but as an intelligent player I expect him to be able to compensate for that. This game, we didn't even make it through day 1 before he hit me with a wall of text labeling everything I had said and done as suspicious. And I believe that was all founded in me disagreeing with him about his main suspect, after which he just let his confirmation bias run wild.

What I often do on day 1 is to pick someone who seems likely to be innocent, and reason about who might be scum if that is true. This fails spectacularly when the person I pick as innocent is in fact scum, such as Q a couple of games back, but it is still a much more sound approach than picking someone you think is scum, and extrapolating wildly based on that. If you assume somebody is innocent, you'll be right roughly 75% of the time, so if you combine that with a good scum tell predicated on said innocence, you actually have a decent chance of hitting scum. Assuming that X is scum and then hitting Y with a wall of text of pure, unmitigated bias based on that assumption, is just counterproductive. If you suspect X, just push to lynch X, and take it from there. As a bonus, you'll also look less silly when X flips innocent.

Also, it should probably be noted that I'm a lot more sensitive to being called scum than most players. I almost always feel like I'm making solid contributions to town, so accusations against me tend to feel unfair and misguided. I'm not saying that's true, but that's how I tend to feel about it. It's a personality trait.

Of course, if Serdoa is scum, then his play makes sense. But either way, the above explains why I said what I did.
If you know what I mean.

So... anyone want to play guess the roles now we've had 3 flips?

2 and a half flips would be more accurate

Basically sounds to me that Serdoa has become zakalwe to your Gaspar. smile It doesn't actually bother me when I'm actually scum of course, since you're right. I actually found playing scum easier than normal this time because I was never intending to last until the end and I just tried to make reads based on being village for the time I was there - I didn't do my usual focus on trying to make friends as well. Whether I sprinkled some deception in there is for the village to decide, and they're certainly currently spilling a lot of ink on it.

Tasunke's arguments about me are patently ridiculous. It takes all of 5 seconds to throw a random word into google translate and C+P it into the thread. I probably would have RP'ed more if I was town, actually. Tasunke being patently ridiculous is a null tell of course, since he's patently ridiculous.
