[SPOILERS] Laconic plakonic

It is unlikely anything better than 3*6 yield tiles would be close by so I'll settle either desert or more likely NW from it (that opens 2nd city spot fist 1st ring). Scout would then check north that I don't orphan sea food there.

I would probably settle in place. Plains corn + cow + fish is plenty of food, allowing the grass corn for city #2.

Fishing and WB are just hard to fit in the schedule. I don't want to build WB before I've settler out and I don't want to see unoccupied worker. This means that tech path pretty much needs to be Agri(10)-Hunting(20 allows pastures in RBmod)-Wheel(29)-Fishing(36).

If I settle in place, Worker would farm the corn, pasture the cows and mine the hill then building roads. I would finish settler from size 2 on T31 and probably settle on T32 (depends on where naturally, but that is earliest possible). Fish would be improved ~T41 and 2nd corn ~T36.

If I settle NW from desert. I'll have all 3 big capital foods improved on T30. Settler would be delayed to T34 (settling on T35), since I would be growing to size 3, but I've excellent 2nd city spot near the fish and I would get fishies netted ~T43+capital could work the lake to give me some desparately needed commerce while second city utilises cows to build WB. I would also have immedite trade route connection between the cities.

Great. You're very welcome to follow and comment the show.

Good call Speaker. After simming it out settling in place seems like the winner after all. Losing the turn combined with slower 2nd city will make moving settler weaker. Only reason to move would then be a bit better long term capital with more land tiles. Not a reason big enough. Unless I find something worthwhile in the north I'll settle in place.

This couldn't start any better. Moved scout north and spotted hut

huts won't pop techs unless I've settled so I did that before claiming the hut

and it was well worth it

After taking the shot I did remove Fishing. There is 5T period in the beginning when you don't need to choose tech and popping Agriculture gives me new options to consider. I might even go for religion from here or Fishing. Hunting is still #1 candidate though.

So lots of new alternatives for early game tech path for the 1st 35T after that lucky hut pop. Some timelines to consider:
* Fastest reasonable settler would be finished on T31
* I need Hunting on T20 after I've improved the Corn
* Fishing T31 when I could switch capital to build WB after settler. I could probably also use a warrior or 2 instead
* Landing religion on 2nd city right after settling it ~T32-33
* Having trade route between my cities so Wheel ~T29 when I finish mining the grassland hill
* BW before T32 so that I could adopt slavery while moving the settler.
* I wouldn't be able utilise Pottery within the next 35T so I won't consider that

Unless I somehow manage to work commerce tiles (does not seem likely within next 35T) I'll need approximately:
* 7T for Fishing
* 10T for Hunting
* 11T for Meditation (16T for Poly, but I wouldn't do it no matter what)
* 10T for Wheel
* 16T for BW

Hunting on T20 seems only one that I can't skip. I think I can postpone hooking up the fish. I could really use Wheel for that 2 extra commerce from trade route and worker would have always something to do. I think I'll do either one of these:
* Hunting-Wheel-Meditation (land it on 2nd city so need to delay it 2-3T) - Fishing
* Meditation (landing buddhism on capital is better than no religion wink) - Hunting-Wheel-Fishing

After this is have soemthing better than warriors to keep my cities secured and BW is probably the way to go. Without Holkans I would give serious consideration for Archery.

If you want log in use plapla

Now it is time to talk me out of it, but I think I'll do a rookie move and go straight to Buddhism. Getting 3rd ring for capital early is also useful (even if not as useful as in the 2nd city) and I would really hate to lose the Buddhism just because I delayed it. It has the added benefit that I'll be pretty close to Oracle from there in case it seems feasible to try it.

T0 Agriculture pop? lol

I wouldn't be against rushing Buddhism. It is the "noob" play, so naturally nobody will do it! If anything, it will provide a different game.

I wouldn't hold off Fishing for too long though. 5-Food tiles in your capital don't grow on trees, you know!
