It's a pity that this game hasn't really piqued the interest from players and lurkers.
A couple of thoughts:
1. Russia is really, really good, especially knowing how the district discount works. Between half-cost Lavras and discounts, I never built a full cost district and it's very possible to plan things even better than I did.
2. Improvements suck, overall. I think my fast start was a combination of the pieces fallng into place (early pantheon from CS, very synergistic start with the pasture pantheon, etc), but also of avoiding improvements and focusing on chops. You need proper terrain for that, but it's pretty doable. Settling on luxuries also helps and shoul be done when possible.
3. I declared war on Rowain because I thought he wanted to pillage my TR with his scout, as his positioning seemed to indicate that (coupled with the fact that he messed with my 4th city placement by fortifying his scout). Finding the unguarded builder was just a bonus.
4. I didn't accept the Carthage for Proxy hatch deal due to morale (I don't want to give back a city I captured) and long term strategy reasons. As Bacchus pointed out in his thread, I was confident Rome couldn't damage me and there was no reason to give back a city that would give fast kinghts by itself. Carthage was never going to equal that strategic gain. Also, I needed Proxy Hatch camp to get my thrid Campus with a discount.
5. Civ 6 is a cool game, but it has some really annoying mechanics that really detract from the whole experience. Also, I don't accept that the game has no built in PBEM MP.
