Is there something about this mod that would cause Alphabet to be a good Great Scientist lightbulb target (?) I agree with scooter that an Academy seems like a far better choice on this tiny map featuring stacked capital cities. Am I missing something here?

I wondered that too. Assuming I have the right mod (I don’t think it actually says the mod version in any of the first posts) the changes to alphabet are: “ No longer enables tech trading, allows Open Borders. Base cost reduced to 250.” That would seem to make the bulb even less appealing given the game is AW. Maybe he’s clearing out Alpha for the better bulb later...?
You are right sunrise. The mod version is RtR 4.1.1.6 with a few changes.

I really wish that Cornflakes would post, like, any pictures whatsoever so that we could see what's going on with his empire. He's coasting to a win and I'm not even sure how many cities he's settled. Anyway, since I brought up the topic of stack composition earlier in this thread, here's another comment on the same topic:
![]() Yuris is making a mistake by not having any spears in this force. Yes, it almost certainly won't matter in this case because superdeath is on his last legs, but this is still sloppy. Just one or two spears would protect him from being hit by mounted units and make the whole group so much safer. Not having even one anti-mounted unit in your slow-moving stack makes no sense.
Superdeath doesn't have any HA's right? And chariots do rather poorly attacking into WC's and Cats so it's not "terrible" in this case no?

It's going to be very interesting to see if scooter and yuris can find a way to cooperate against Cornflakes as they both say they want to, when the practical impediment of the culture at Memphis is creating friction between them.
I'm guessing one or the other blinks and decides they "have to" act first, and that's the game to Cornflakes.
Cornflakes's attack could make this moot anyway. I don't think that even working together there is any way they can overcome him at this point. Scooter is correct that Yuri's settling Memphis and investing heavily to the south effectively guaranteed a Cornflakes win. I tend to think his own choice of leader-first rather than location-first was a mistake because it put too much of his fate into other players' hands, and because odds were good that one of the northern leaders would be the winner just due to better snowball potential.
I believe with razing Joe Exotic and Yuris' counterattack doing not very much it's game over man.
Travelling on a mote of dust, suspended in a sunbeam.
Yuris seems to think he still has a shot.
This: Quote:Through galley-chaining and my three Nav2 galleys I'll be landing 8 units (including 1 catapult) on the rice 1E of Heliopolis T117. I'll use my naval supremacy to sweep the islands. Meanwhile I'll continue cranking out military from all cities do build up another defensive stack to ensure safety of the core Would seem to indicate that he is mistaken.
