Most UBs you can pair with a trait are rather nifty, obviously some more than others.

Yeah, it's not bad, definitely worth building. The question of course is at what point it should be built, which is trickier to answer. That's where strategy comes in, I suppose.
I have to run.
Okay well we're in anarchy this turn as we swap into Rep.
We went for the furs but Amica got a settler on the furs island last turn, he'll settle this turn. So I guess we'll head back and settle our furs or the whale island. A bit of wasted time due to a little too little early exploration I guess. I just went West with our first exploring WB before going east. Oh well. The other settler laden galley is headed to the dye island. I didn't take demos this time.

Ah yes, a happy birthday!
Let's hope the birthday wish comes true here. We have 11 cities but it will take 5 more turns before we get another so we might as well pop the cork on this now. 6 forests. We decided to do this on T89 and luckily had the workers in range to move onto all 6 forests at the same time t90 and chop all into t93. Pretty good! This will HELP! Now when I opened the turn SD had sent fish for fish, and I was like whatever and clicked through. But then I saw: A BIRTHDAY PRESENT?! 2 undefended workers and an axe in a precarious position? Also: Hmm I wonder where that chariot will go at full move capacity if I DOW. LET'S FIND OUT! Heh. NOM. Axe, Scout and 2 workers down here. NOM. So in total 3 workers an axe and a scout and he can't hit back unless he builds a chariot in Hadra EOT. Obvs we want to wait to go full scale war with him, but we're in a defendable position and he won't be able to break any of our cities anytime soon. I don't think we need to peace him right away. We can keep a hostile border, watch his power and just keep ahead of him until we tech up to Construction. I'd prefer to wait to peace him until the forest between us is ours to chop (if we get HG). Demos: Please look better in the morning?

Yummie. I feel a bit sorry for SD... He’s trying to break from the mold and build peaceful relations, not realizing that that’s impossible with that border.

It's late so I'll make this quick.
We landed HG! But I didn't take any fancy pics of it because we were distracted by war. We opened the turn to see: Hmmm SD put an axe on his horse. Now 1 person has HBR. I don't know if it is SD, but I think it might be. He's got Numids so its a clear choice for him. Gav has no HA's that I can see and has War Chariots. Comm's score is too low. Jowy teched MC. Civac Teched Currency. Someone teched calendar and it's not SD I think. SO that leaves Amica, AT and SD as possible HBRers. We did the only sensible thing, promoted our chariot and killed his axe at 67% odds. Then pillaged his horse. If he has whipped chariots or Numids, no go for him. Moved the spear onto the chariot. We decided to move the chariot in the south back NE. It can go pillage SD's gems. I ended turn and Hadrum which was 2 popped whipped produced... nothing: heh heh heh Demos: Our GNP is getting better! SO are food and MFG. What a shot in the arm HG was. We may have to whip a few pop, but for now we're doing well. Workign 9 cottage and 9 hamlets. We are building more. Currency is within sight.

Uh you were supposed to cottage the overlapped riverside grass between Gnash and Fop and not the one 2S of Gnash. That's just strictly worse.
Also there is a road leading east from SD's gems so he may be trying to settle there and/or there may be workers there to threaten. SD was trying to work the horse over the rice last turn (until we sat on the tile and disabled it). That is a curious decision, and shows an emphasis on production. I assume the other tile being worked was the flood plains, but it could have been the stone as well. In fact he is not working the rice at Utica either.
