Well, I was hoping the rush would fail but its just as fun to see if they can knock out the European capitols faster than the Germans did in 1940.
Why did they name their cities after European capitols anyways?

The pessimism in the Byzantine thread about their future prospects is very disappointing. Losing a city early is surely a setback but there is a long way to go in the game and they are a good team. They can catch up.

I can understand him being rather emotional right now.. after all, these games tend to take up quite a bit of time and effort, and losing Paris was a big setback for their Civ. Then again, deceit and misdirection are part of the diplomacy game. Hopefully in a day or two he'll have cooled off a little and things return to normal.
Besides, there's been no sign his teammates agree to be to the Ottomans what the Templars were to RB in the Apolyton game.

Their cities are named after Olympic hosts. Athens hosted the 1896 Games, Paris the 1900 games. I don't know if they're going to do repeats (I hope not for confusion purposes; Paris also hosted 1924).
Only rego's really pessimistic. Sunrise and Darell haven't been around too much over the past day or two. Byzantium needs to heal its wounds, and work the diplomacy channels to get some allies and give itself some breathing room, probably planning on striking with cataphracts. If they were 1t or 2t faster, they'd have been able to whip an archer, and hold the city. A fresh archer would have had +120% strength + any fortify bonus + 1 first strike (+50 city, +25 unit bonus from hill, +25 hill, +20 culture), and likely required 2-3 chariots to drop. Then again, my sympathy for them is...limited. Rego's exploits in war against Exploit bother me, and his actions here haven't helped. And it's rego's civ, he just happens to have 2 extra members on his team.
EDIT: Fixed mistakes in the beginning.

in case anyone missed it, this is dmoc's current view of the world. Just goes to show how damned hard it is to be accurate based merely off of vague descriptions of locations. He'll probly laugh quite hard after the game

And I don't see how this is any shadier than his alliance-switching in RBP1. Sunrise and Darrell need to talk Rego down, or else he's going to do something rash and get them killed.
Rego plays Diplomacy, for chrissakes! For those of you who've never played the game, anyone who takes all of their opponents at their word WILL lose that game. Yeah I agree. But Rego seems to have a BIG winner instinct, so he's probably just bitterly disappointed.
Hopefully they can find a new goal for RBP2 (winning is out, I suspect) to keep their interest in the game alive. I guess preventing A/K from winning will have to do for now...
Actually, emotions aside, Byzantium should probably negotiate a peace deal ASAP and rebuild. With good diplomacy they could go as far as number 2. Not sure what the price would be for peace now, maybe a future great person?

Well played Athlete and Kalin. Rego got a taste of his own diplomacy .

Apologies for a small nitpick, but Paris hosted the 1900 (as well as the 1924) Olympics. The 1904 games were hosted in St. Louis. The only reason I know this is I'm from St. Louis. Both games were held in conjunction with the Worlds Fair.

That's a very naturalistic interpretation of it.
Reminds me of yea olde maps of North America. Someone lurking his thread regularly should tell him to add some dragons. Its nice to see someone making a map from scratch rather than pretty much being able to figure it out from the start.
I'm going to be sad when Sullla eventually gives him a map.

Wait, isn't that Jowy's offshore copper that Korea is planning to settle? No big deal, as Jowy's got iron, but kinda funny how Jowy gets encroached upon from all sides.
