RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Gandhi of Korea (Broker33 & plako)

Did you send anything with the settler (worker or archer).
Do you know if the island is big enough to spam barbarians and if they are entering borders now (which could well be pretty annoying if you have no military there)

(From memory, barbarians must be able to enter borders now, since I believe the number of cities per (alive ?) civ is close to 3)

I guess barbs can enter and we did send a warrior alongside with the Settler. We'll had to make another trip to get Worker there. However the 3 hammer tile under the city will get this city running quite fast even without a worker. It just needs a monument and 2workboats to produce its own workers.

I dont think now is the time to chase religion. I think we need to get the hwacha out as soon as possible. Axes will slow down agressive preats but not stop them forever. Our UU in combo will make defense assured and we may even be able to press the attack.

Here are latest screenshots. I'll whip next turn axes in Wonsan and Pyongyang. Whosit's power is alarmingly raising. I'll collect still some gold so that we could run with 100% towards Mathematics or in case of emergency upgrade warrior.

It's good to see Pusan up and running. Holding cities shouldn't be too difficult against the Empire's Shock Praets.
A fully-fortified CI Axe defending in P'yong would have +105% defense (50 melee, CI, 25 fort, 20 culture) against likely CI/Shock Praets (8.8 + 25% reduction of your +105% defense), for a net of 8.8 vs. 9.0, or about 63% odds in your favor (double-check that in a world-builder save, but situational bonuses are all put on the defender). Wonsan should be somewhat safer with the hill.

Is either of your front two cities near 40% culture?

Thank you for the detailed battle calculations. It is quite close, but axes are 10 hammers cheaper.

Both cities are pretty far from 40%. Library would help a lot in both cases.

I checked into the game and I made one switch. I changed the capital from working the 1/1/4 fur tile to working the 1/3/0 grass hill to speed the axeman. The gold difference wont matter as much as defense at this point I thought. You can veto the decision of course since you have had the lead so far but since I am moved I am trying to be more involved smile

Status update. 1st Barb axe did came from west. We've 3 archers+axe+warrior in Wonsan and 2 axes+3 Archers in Pyongyang. I'm building shortcut between these 2 cities so that transferring troops between them would be faster and we could hopefully do with less troops. I regret the positioning of Pyongyang. It should've been planted 1S. Everything would be so much easier. Whosit's power is still raising and I can count ~4 raises in the power that indicate either Praetorian or 2 axes.

I'm still collecting gold. Our economy really starts to hurt now because of "excessive" troops. We need ~160 gold to finish Maths.

Whosit is in serious business. his power has raised quite a bit and I think he got 2 praetorians 2 turns ago (or alternatively some other mix of troops with similar value). I'm thinking currently ~6-7 praetorians. I switched Pyongyang to axe and we can 2 pop whip 2 axes out of there.

After taking the shot I decided to move the 2*axes inside the Pyongyang in to the hill south of it. I consider Wonsan more important to us.

Wish we had spys. His culture give him visibility of both cities and if either fall we need to reinforce the capital.

Wosan give us horse but tactically is just as important as Pyongyang. Horse wont help us in this war unless we go for HBR which we shouldnt. Hold out for construction.

Actually worst case is he marches to the hill where the worker is east of the chariot. Almost a tripple fork. 2 moves from Seoul and Wosan and 3 from Pyongyang.

I think both cities need to be reinforced. If you empty one he will just go there.
