I also wouldn't like to play this game with 48h timer. My suggestion is not to pause if not specific request from a player.
Edit: I understand a lot can happen IRL, but we are 11 players altogether, who commit their time into this game. If someone's constantly not able to play turns within agreed time frame, he should get a replacement (temporary or permanent).

Sorry guys, had a bit of time before heading to the airport and thought I might be able to get the turn out before I left. Got a call which took up the remainder of the time though. Finished the turn now.
I'm enjoying this game but I understand the frustration about the delays. Can't do a whole lot about this for the time being I'm afraid - I barely have a spare moment these days. Life is happening all at once right now... which is generally a good thing for me, not so great for the game though.
I'll keep playing when I can, though my evening play window seems to keep disappearing for one reason or another. If you folks want to get a permanent sub that's fine - I'd be sad to let my little nation go, but if it's in the best interests of the other players then that's fine. For now I'll continue playing when I can and see what I can manage.

I'm enjoying playing with you and I do not want to see you go, but I would much prefer to have faster turns - turns that fall within the 24 hour timer we've set up. I think you should resolve the issue of being able to play turns in a timely manner in a way that works for you. It sounds like you are really busy right now and so you would need a sub or a replacement or a teammate. The other solution is we skip your turns if you can't play them fast enough, but I think that tends to spiral into getting a replacement anyway.

Turn roll is now 27 hours in the past.
As a general principle for future turns, should I be assuming that LP has missed his turn if 24h go by with no play or pause request?

It's late and I can't hang around for too long... will head to bed and see if I can squeeze in my turn in the morning if I don't hear anything soon.
Apologies that I didn't post in advance that I'd be late - the nature of my work at the moment means that I'm required to be on call during evenings, so I get very little warning when I'm about to be pulled away. I'll try to post when I can in the future though.

As someone else who has recently had their spare time restricted, I can sympathize with you LP, but I agree with Haram:

OK , so here are my thoughts FWIW.
1. Like JoJo, I would hate to see turns get forfeited because I feel it could upset the balance of the game, especially if a war is going on.
2. I also don't want a 48 hour time clock, even though I proposed it. It really won't solve anything.
3. Over the last two turns, 9 players have finished at the 8-10 hour mark. I believe that Seven would be able to do the same if he were not bound to a turn order.
4. Those same players then need to continue to monitor the game for pause/unpauses, and if they miss a narrow window of opportunity that LP can play then the game gets delayed even further because the time doesn't work for him.
5. In times of war, 12 hour availability is ideal, if not required, to be fair to the other player(s). Yet recent time clock concerns regarding turn order have not even been acknowledged by LP in this thread when mentioned.
That said, I am with the consensus here that a replacement (even temporary) is the best option even though:
6. I really don't feel it should be put on us as a collective to make this decision for you, LP.
webandit's handling of his recent time away is a prime example of how something like this can be handled. He recruited a replacement player well ahead of an extended absence and, even though the replacement could not access the game, a concerted effort was made. wb even played a turn during his requested time away to keep things moving, minimizing a delay that was accepted anyway by the group under the circumstances.
Unfortunately, I don't see the same level of concern for the other players in this case, though I can understand Lord Parkin's RL circumstances. I can also sympathize will how tough it is to relinquish a game you have invested in for quite some time. But 2-3 months is a long time to keep 10 fully engaged players on day-to-day standby.

I'm not going to sugar coat this, I'm not going to beat around the bush.
It has been brought to the lurkers attention that Parkin is cheating by renaming units to convey diplomatic messages. Evidence is available to support this with absolutely no confusion or debate on the issue.
In my completely unofficial role as forum nobody, as this is neither LP's first offence in this game nor on this forum, I suggest ejection from the game and a permanent sub. That would also hopefully speed the game up somewhat. But really, I leave this up to the players to make up your own minds, with one caveat: I do not believe anyone except LP is aware of the password to his civ.
