If we think that Chev is going to zerg us, what would he do? What would it look like? Because I thought the risk was he could potentially pass under blocking boats and then rush Asshai but would that not leave him encircled?

If we gave him DoF we want to time it for how it suits us, after he commits resources units. Now would be way too soon IMO.

Tying up boats is one thing but if the Asshai units were to move on Chev would have to have faith he had all the CS and we couldn't snipe any from him.

I take it that with the conquest of BA, I need to use the builder charges on the wheat and on the jade to provide the eureka for The Wheel? And that means the Adab Builder goes Quarry/chop/pasture? So Adab goes GP>Ancestral Hall>Builder>Settler (and hence the correct builder order is probably quarry>chop>pasture anyway, unless a civic completes to eke out a bit more production to go quarry>pasture>chop).





By my reckoning at least one of the TAD galleys must be dead next turn. Possibly 2 if he attacks? And because he tried to protect his weakened galley, he cannot declare on Mog to pillage a farm unless he repositions this turn to pillage next turn, and if he does that then he loses the galley positioned to pillage? And then if he retreats the northern force and fortifies the southern galley, that dies next turn as well unless he egts really lucky on the rolls and can then promote heal?

I always like these sorts of puzzles.

Given that we can't make a decision until next turn, the builder chop or not is just a factor to take into account, but I do see an option to capture the builder and then mvoe towards TADs capital to block, and leave the three remaining boats to deal with MotM.





Do we have any idea where the CS is? Pressuring Chev between AbtS, another CS and covering his own cities against 5 longboats seems like the right play, but he will have better understanding of the lay of the land.





Do we want to consider moving past Shodai, so that we can both threaten Japan but also support the Portugeuse assault? The downside is that we would theoretically leave Volantis open. Just something to keep in mind, but I suspect that battering Shodai might be the right move.

So on the potential moves TAD can make, assuming no boats that can attack on his T48. Actually, with 150 mil strength, and 4 visible galleys at 30+27+27+24=108, he could have 1 spare boat and an injured warrior.

If he runs away 3 tiles with the southern galley you can't reach it at all, but if he runs two tiles (31) you can't reach with both galleys, but he also can't reach you next turn unless he runs around the island clockwise to regroup, but then the galley is irrelevant for the follow up 2v2.

If he attacks then both the northern galleys die, right? Because the defending longship is defending at 44 minus the health loss, and his attach at 32 and maybe 29? And both his units get absolutely battered on your T49, then you retreat to the ocean T50.

If he stays in place (and even moves his southern galley 4), then you can focus on either side of his string and 2v1 the end unit on the south, or risk a 1v1 in the north. Or just take the 2v1 in the centre and break him completely, because then you can run down both ships, and there is a farm to heal from (and he can't pillage heal in that scenario, except to deny, but then he definitely loses both remaining boats without backup).

If he runs away in the north, he is pinned by the single tile choke, and he either sacrifices the injured boat, or tries to protect it but it would still be reachable. In either case, the "defending" boat (either 1 or 4 of the fish) would get 2v1'd.

He might try to hold the fish choke with one boat and then retreat the other? Or maybe that remaining galley is heading from his capital and will pop up next turn on the fish and he does plough into the coastal longship? But that still looks like you kill both galleys next turn and turn it from a 5v2 to a 2v2, and if he can't kill a longboat on his T49 then you could farm pillage an extra 50 health...

No, I think you are correct in the assessment of needing information. If we don't push forward with something we will never have any knowledge of what is coming, and we can't plan. I agree on sending the unpromoted healthy ship. The CS looks way to tough in the current situation to even consider trying to rush it, even if it isn't a bad CS for them. Still doesn't compare to the potential catastrophe of them regain NM.

Which one is Embolon and which is Helmsman?

If the northern is Embolon, it could me 333, review, and then retreat 4 to the ocean. I'm just not sure if it is worth healing this turn and throwing hte unpromoted ship to the wolves? The other point is that if we want a pitched battle in the next few turns with Oligarchy, do we want to try and threaten to zerg the capital? The point being to try and split Chevs ships into two groups, force him to declare and then break half his navy anyway, like we seem to be doing to TAD?

It might even be worth looking for an ocean tile in their core we can get the Helmsman boat to.
