Sailing probably should have come before IW as it starts paying itself back and we aren't yet in the jungle, but ah well. Mig any idea how we are getting a connection to SD? Is it through Lewyyn?

Speaking of sailing do you still have a worker up north that could chop out the granary and then some additional work boats for circumnav plus island scouting? I like still blitzing the mainland, but we should start looking to the seas. I'm not that worried because island cities are a little easier to take (you don't have to walk into massed collateral), but we shouldn't ignore either.

Sailing I will definitely have before IW. Our economy is Crashing!! I'm glad I started building cottages or I think we'd be screwed right now. Sailing will finish in around 5-6 turns I think, maybe more like 8 (I'd need to log in and check).

I could try to do that re: islands. We wouldn't be able to settle any until at least T90 probably, since we'd need to scout and build a galley. We don't have many forests in Espresso Martini but it has a lot of base production so we'll have 2-3 work boats and then a galley out pronto.

I agree we want Superdeath to do well. I don't know how to communicate it to him, but right now we could create a stranglehold over Lewwyn's trade that would cut him off completely, unless there's routes across the sea. It wouldn't be totally crippling, but it'd slow down the path to construction for Lewwyn a lot.  He's now open borders with us, Jowy, and.... Lewwyn. rant Pick a side, man. You only have 6 cities!

Yes I think our trade connection to SD goes through Lewynn's port city and then up the river to SD's city.

Btw if you want to cut off Lewynn from trade us and superdeath have to be at war with him constantly (closed borders isn't enough). I don't think that's feasible. superdeath's trade routes should not give him commerce yet given their recent war (there's a formula for that, somewhere).

I have been holding back on commenting re: Oracle because frankly I expect it to just not happen if we push it behind t80. Great Lighthouse... same, sort of, although a bit more realistic. I'm not too worried about the culture bomb in Moscow Mule, they are already our enemies so that's extra defense bonus. And it's not like we straight up left them no other choice but to charge in with as many HAs as possible asap. Of course if we get the GLH there it makes it a huge target, but our defense stands or falls there anyways.
But again, I think making plans for GLH/oracle on turn 70, for a size 1 city that is currently building an axe, aiming to build them 15 turns later, won't cut it. I can get behind Mjmd's slowbuild at the capital suggestion, if it fails, it's gold (although I still think we want foodhammers for expansion more). We also don't need either of those wonders terribly with our traits. Maybe MoM is more realistic? I'll also be a bit worried if we leave those forests in front of MM standing waiting for a wonder, as I don't want them to give Lewynn's invading army a defense bonus.

are you chopping monument over granary in the new city? I think it doesn't need a border pop terribly soon?

So even though people could figure out the known techs, there is a difference with it showing now. If we tech it its a very clear signal that we are going for. People won't know the timeline. All up to you what you want to do. It is not necessarily the job of a ded lurker to always post the most reasonable plans.

Great Lighthouse I think might be a pipe dream, but I am vaguely hopeful that I can figure out a T85-ish Oracle. There is no one in this game that is industrious. It is not a disaster if it doesn't happen though, as financial cottages should start kicking in starting soon.

Thanks Miguelito, I didn't realise that about the trade routes. My mistake. I've been chopping a monument in the new city because it is only 10 less hammers into the granary, and also I thought the culture would be valuable in a jungle settle-off. That might have been wrong in retrospect too.

Sorry, I am aware that you guys are contributing far more than is expected of a dedlurker this game; I do appreciate it. It was actually what I meant when I mentioned I was going to try to be more self-sufficient. I am going to try to make my posts more update and less question.

In the spirit of coming up with my own stuff, I have just been tinkering around for a bit in game trying to work out micro for the next 5 turns, so I can play turns relatively quickly. I'm pleased with it now, the signs everywhere make me feel like I know what I'm doing. wink

I have also come up with an Oracle plan, it gets the thing done on T90 with 4 chopped forests and marble, although I could potentially get that to T89. Before then is very unlikely, bordering on impossible, due to the timing of marble connection. I'm sending/building 2 axes and spears up to the Lewwyn border to protect workers while chopping (1 of each per worker). I'll go into more detail if it still looks doable by T80-85. Turns 70-80 are the same even if we don't grab Oracle.

Have any other wonders been built yet this game?

So far zero wonders have been built, which I'm guessing is quite uncommon for T70 with 8 players. Must be because of no industrious. I'm not sure if that makes it more or less likely people will go for Oracle soon though. T90 might be far too late (I'm guessing it would definitely be too late usually; this game is just different for wonders).

Here is an overview shot, probably the last for the next 5 turns, at least. I am about to get into the guts of exams and will have very little time for posting for around 3-4 days. Not sure if my micro will be readable or not, but it's theoretically here. Some of the worker turn micro involves already-sunk turns, for example the 'Chop 73' forest at the capital is pre-chopped, and will only take 1 turn. You can also see Lewwyn's 8th city, crammed in by the copper and stone.



The barb city is also (probably) building a worker, smh.
