[PB16 SPOILERS] SevenSpirits goes off the deep end and finds Krill

Also might sound stupid but we're going to need HBR to actually be able to defend from galley incursions later on.

The answer is, we would have finished Meditation on the same turn as whoever got Buddhism, but on that turn we resolved our EOT after almost everyone.

How can you tell the order EOT got resolved in?

For sure, there are a few very important classical techs for us. The priority we give to them may depend on our plans/hopes for religion.

1. Code of Laws. If we can get it soon enough, we will get Confucianism. Regardless of that, it also gives us access to caste system (faster great people and cheap border pops by artists), and lets us build courthouses which will be pretty effective on this map and will also enable the Forbidden Palace.

2. Currency. We can get open borders with other players... and they'll be on other continents. That means this is worth $3/city - crazy! It also enables markets, which will be pretty good buildings for commerce given the low slider we plan to have, and will also be worth at least 2 happiness from fur and ivory. Finally, it lets us build wealth in a pinch.

3. Calendar. Wow. We get no less than 7-8 new luxuries. It's true, most of them we'll have to trade away for other luxes to get any benefit. So reaching Calendar first will not be that great. But once a few people have it, this is probably worth a lot of happiness.

4. Math. Yeah, better chop yield is very nice. And it's necessary for all the other important stuff except CoL.

We basically have three potential paths to getting a religion.

1) First to CoL. It seems unlikely to me given our traits and situation, but it's not impossible. Opportunity cost is not bad - we want these techs anyway. However, if we could know that we wouldn't get the religion, I don't think we'd choose CoL as our first classical tech.

2) Get Meditation-Priesthood-CoL, Math, and Alphabet. Get a scientist and bulb Philosophy. Cost here is fairly high and annoying (we have to research a dead tech, alphabet) and it takes a long time before we have a religion. But having access to pacifism is also a pretty nice benefit.

3) Get a spread from another player. Cost is zero, but other than meeting other players which we want to do anyway, it's out of our hands. I really don't care whether we founded the religion or not - if we get a free spread soon enough that we can make good use of it, I'll be quite happy about it.

t55: Just continuing on as stated before. We finally found a barb warrior. It's next to our impi + worker on the gold hill. Considering we get 99.6% odds on attack, and the barb is on a hill too, I think we're fine. I didn't attack though because we aren't getting XP from barbs on that impi anyway.

I took the turn to check how many land tiles are on the map, and approximately how many are on our island.

Map total: 2289.
Map total / 6: 381
Our island (estimate): 320

So either our island extends way farther than we thought to the southeast, or there are some neutral islands.

t56: Looks exactly the same as last turn.

In civstats news, I'm thinking that Gaspar/Gavagai know each other as Gaspar waited until the end to play, and then played immediately after Gavagai finally did. And there have been a flurry of logins end of last turn and start of this turn by both of them, so maybe something is happening. I hope Gaspar doesn't beat up Gavagai too badly. Ideally it's a stalemate or Gavagai comes out on top.

Also, I noticed that hinduism increased to 2%, while 2metra grew a pop point and Mikehendi didn't. I am 90% sure the hinduism % change happened this turn; if so, it proves that it's 2metra.

Do you consider NobleGaspar to be your stiffest competition?

Hm, I never did a real opponent analysis, did I?

Well if you're gonna get beat, who's going to do it?

My money's on Sevenspirits, he's a wily one.
