RBP2 Lurker Discussion Thread - No Players!

Well I certainly did not mean to post spoilish information as I was looking at their screen shot at the time and was just throwing out some ideas on what he could do to stay in the game.

I'll just shutup now since my definition of 'spoiler' seems to be a little different than what's accepted - I just like analysing a situation and coming up with solutions too much. frown

I was thinking about Whosit and his thread/NAP break.

Not sure why he jump started his attack and he has now answered his own question about why people don't do that!

Amusing to see him drooling at the unguarded workers on the border as well. smile

I am kinda with something LiPing said earlier in the same thread... About making NAPs unbreakable with regular demands or phony DoW > enforced Peace - not played any multiplayer civ and got to wondering why people don't do that more?

The problem is we are soo spoiled that our natural suggestion reveal alot more than we think they do.
For example: At the moment Broker/Plako are the only ones who fully realise what the toroidal shape means (= that north and south is far closer together than the way over land suggests).

As well as the spoilers, you shouldn't be throwing out such broad ideas. They need to play their own game. You're a lurker, not a team member.

The solution to that would be to PLAY in one of the games yourself, rather than making comments that could unfairly help or influence one of the players in this game. Then you can analyze and solve for yourself all you like. I'm sure another MP game will start here at some point, perhaps when Pitboss 1 concludes.

Lurker here, been following the game. But just want to add that you can tell that Sulla and Speaker know lurkers have been giving them spoilers because in everyone of their posts now they specifically ask them to make sure not to pass things on.

And about the map, even if they might guess or say they think something is a certain way, that's a lot different then getting confirmation from a lurker that they're right. Getting confirmation that something is true when you couldn't quite be 100% can certainly change how you play something out.

Finally, I'd say this thread is good if you want to crunch some numbers and discuss plans with somebody with influencing a team smile No need to do it in their thread.

Hey! I've been away from Civ for a LONG time and just came back to find these Pitboss games going. It's really interesting and looks like lots of fun -- sorry I missed the start! It appears that if something doesn't happen to slow down Speaker and Sullla, they'll quickly become the dominant Civ which is probably not the position the other teams would want them to be in, given their amazing attention to detail!

I can't believe Whosit declared so close to the NAP ending.yikes Even with the concession of giving up the captured worker to return back to normal, to me the damage has already been done. duh Everyone noticed the threat of Rome early on and IMO was probably never going to be trusted early game by any of the other teams. You only have to read the other threads and them all stating how pleased they were for not having Rome as a neighbour early on. jive

I'm just wondering if Athlete and Kalin missed a trick with there slick diplomacy / negotiation skills. If tech trading was on, I personally would have tried and worded an email for a favourable tech trade in return as part of helping restore peace. Perhaps they could have asked for a free unit or something else, what do you guys think?

I think the koreans were in deep trouble (and still are IMO) so would have agreed immediately to improve there situation, alright and Whosit has lost his senses in the declaration, so who knows what he may have given up to improve his reputation.shhh

I think by the time the free unit could get from Korea to their lands, it would be obsolete. lol

We provide:

-Copper for 12 turns
-Move our planned "production" city 1 tile west so that it gives them more cultural space

They provide:

-1 worker

Anyone else think they are not exactly using their position of power in those negotiations with Korea well? I can't see why they are making the concession of moving a city, considering that they are negotiating to give copper to a civ that has none and is next to aggressive Rome ! That seems like the most powerful bargaining position possible in a game like this with no tech trading.
