RB Pitboss #2 [SPOILERS] - Peter of Byzantium

Okay I revolted and our sickly warrior is guarding our settler. In order to try and adhere to the double move rules, I have not moved the settler on to the red dot hill site - will do that in the morning.

Crossing my fingers that the quechua doesn't take him out.

I am still working the regular 4 (non-coast) tiles, but for some reason Meditation is on 81/119 and listed in 2 (T46) as schedule. Not sure what happened there?

No Buddhism as of T44. 2 more turns to go....

Check and see if we picked up a coastal trade route...I can't recall if we need Sailing or just our partner needs sailing but maybe Jowy is going for The Great Lighthouse.

Okay, so I am picking things up from turn 47, assuming we land Buddhism in the nice location. We are at 44/60 on Worker #2 (due in 2). We are at 0/89 on Priesthood (due in 6 turns). Paris is at 4/15 on a Warrior while working the Grassland Forest tile. Worker #1 has completed the road connecting the cities at the end of turn 47.

Turn 48
Worker #1: Move NW of Deer.

Turn 49
Athens: Worker -> Worker
Worker #1: Move onto Deer
Worker #2: Move W;NW (to W of Crab)

Turn 50
Worker #1: Camp Deer
Worker #2: Mine Grassland Forest Hill

Turn 51
Whip Athens

Turn 52
Tech: Priesthood -> Pottery
Athens: Worker -> The Oracle
Worker #3: Move S;SE (east of Wheat)

Turn 53
Paris: Warrior -> Warrior
Worker #3: Chop Forest

Turn 54
Paris: Deer, Grassland Forest (pop +1)
Worker #1: Move to Gold

Turn 55
Worker #1: Build Mine

Turn 56
Athens: Wheat, Crab, Grassland Mine (x2) (pop +1)
Worker #3: Move north (via Fur), chop Forest

Turn 57
Worker #2: Move south

Turn 58
Paris: Warrior -> Warrior
Paris: Deer, Gold
Worker #2: Chop Forest

Turn 59
Worker #1: Build Road
Worker #2: Move to Forest NE of Copper

Turn 60
Tech: Pottery -> Animal Husbandry
Paris: Deer, Gold, Grassland Forest (pop +1)
Worker #3: Build road

Turn 61
Free Tech: Metal Casting
Athens: The Oracle -> Granary
Athens: Wheat, Crab, Grassland Mine (x2), Fur (pop +1)
Paris: Warrior -> Granary
Worker #2: Build a Mine
Worker #1: Move NW, build a Cottage

Yada, yada, yada smile.

I checked - no trade route. The other thing would seem to be bonuses for someone else knowing the tech, but that couldn't be since nobody has founded Buddhism

It's asymmetrical. You need Sailing for you to have a trade route. Your partner needs sailing for your partner to have a trade route. Same behavior as Astronomy, where whoever knows the tech can have overseas trade routes, and a partner without the tech can't.

Thanks T-Hawk...that's decidely weird unless we popped Gold and you didn't notice just like in the sandbox lol.

It'd be nice if we waited until last to play the turn we founded, then clicked over so we know if we landed Buddhism or not...I don't think I can take the suspense otherwise since we've cast the die at that point. It should not violate the double move Settler move either since he's not moving.

No gold as far as I could tell. Except for the one that we're about to claim mwahaha Evil

Played T44 and ended turn. I will endeavor to be last on T45 so we can know for sure if we're getting Buddhism before founding.

Well you won't know for sure before founding even if you're last to end turn, but at least you'll know immediately after founding smile

At any rate, fingers crossed!

Email out to Jowy

Quote:Hey Jowy,

Sorry for the delay in getting back to you - not sure where you're physically located but it's a holiday weekend here in the US so I've been somewhat busy.

That river is awfully close to our capital and would be a shame to leave it be as a financial leader. I haven't scouted enough yet to say for sure, but I do feel that the river was "meant" to be on our lands. Hopefully we can work out a better way to divide the lands. I'll of course have to scout east myself before setting anything in stone. Maybe forget about the river and use other landmarks once we have enough information. Anyway I do agree that we should leave some spare space there to prevent 'our borders to spark tension'.

I don't think that we mean to say that this river is ours, or even necessarily split between us. We recognize that you also have a claim in this area. You are correct that it is 5 or so tiles from your capital at its closest point - it is also close to our capital (I believe 6 tiles? Not looking at a map right now). From what I can remember, where it comes out on the coast is closer to your lands, and the headwaters are closer to us.

I guess at this point we have 2 choices. What I proposed is that we each don't send our first settler or two to this river valley. There is no copper over there, as I'm sure you already know. That allows us to potentially stake a more aggressive claim in other directions, while still counting on our mutual agreement to allow a "fair" settlement plan between us. Overall, that maximizes both of our land, if we can both be counted on as trustworthy.

The alternative is that one of us rushes an aggressive settlement towards this river valley. The problem with that is that a) it kind of reduces trust between us, which is bad, and b) it will likely cause the other civ to also rush a settler in that direction, etc, etc. All the while, our other neighbors are settling towards both of our other borders.

So what do you think? We are willing to agree to not settle our first 1 or 2 cities towards the river valley if you are - let me know

Okay T45 flipped over. Still no Buddhism founded (yay!) Meditation in 1 for us.

I will play the turn(s?) hopefully tonight some time.

Oh the other thing I wanted to mention is that athlete is actually 1 tile further away than I first thought. He's creative, so the culture that we can see is actually his 3rd ring, not the 2nd.
