The Way of the Civ Player - Ichabod and Wetbandit's PB13 Spoiler Thread

There's a chance WLP is gearing for war against Bacchus. That'd be very nice, his army would be far, far away when we go for him. I think I have enough units being shown at my borders with WLP to discourage any thoughts he could have of attacking us. But I see so much movement in his thread that I feel something is about to happen...

eek

Such a fast conquest must mean a 2-movers attack. I can't see how they'd be able to do that with just HAs, so perhaps they have Knights already... I don't think the geography enables a berserk attack.

Why some of the players don't have an army? Even Slow, with his 5 cities, had a decent sized army. WLP has a big army, FinHarry has a big army. Even Bacchus and retep likely have a good army. I think you have to be defending with warriors to get destroyed so fast and with such confidence from your opponent (3 cities in one turn means a divided stack). And I'm number 2 in power with only 7000 points behind number 1 (that's 2 units or something), which is probably Mackoti, not Pindooter. They can't have a huge army, sicne I don't have one...

Blah, another player folding so fast and leaving me to trail the big boys... It's obvious that WLP won't be a sitting duck, so I'll have to destroy myself to conquer him, likely having no more time to catch up.

WLP does leave his borders relatively light when his attention is elsewhere, or so it seems.

I wouldn't be surprised if they have knights, dtay has education, or at least can research it, at this point.

Hey, Krill, if you are reading this, what does this change means:

Quote:Flanking:

Horse Archer (and replacements): do 50% flanking damage to Catapults and Trebuchet.

Knight (and replacements): do 50% flanking damage to Catapults and Trebuchet.

Cuirassier (and replacements): do 50% flanking damage to Catapults and Trebuchet and
Cannon.

Cavalry (and replacements): do 50% flanking damage to Catapults and Trebuchet and Cannon.

Gunships: do 50% flanking damage to Cannon, Artillery and Trebuchet.

Units in RBMod do less flanking damage or the 50% was the standard in BTS? Does this mean that the siege units can't be killed by flanking damage (which would be different from BTS)?

It means "Flanking strength (used to calculate damage from flanking strikes) of all units reduced by 50%." What is flanking strength? A good analogy, as far as I know (I'm not sure), is catapults. Imagine catapults had only 2.5 strength instead of 5 - then they would do less collateral damage to the units they hit. But it's not affecting anything else, and it's not preventing a bunch of mounted units from killing catapults - it will just take more of them.

Thanks, Seven.

Well, WLP is whipping like mad. I took a look at La Boheme and he has a stack there, but mostly of defensive units (spears and longbows). He has to be whipping units, but I doubt he's going to attack us. Either way, I keep building my own units and I divided the Slow stack and brought some units "back home". We have to hope WLP is gearing to conquer retep or Bacchus. That's probably a good thing, while having him attacking us is almost game over, unless we can decisevely win in defense.

Now that I think of it, I'm really considering bringing all the Slow stack back home. No matter what WLP does, we'll want those units ready to tackle him. If he attacks retep/Bacchus, we want the units to take advantage of his two front war. If he attacks us, it's pretty obvious why we need those units. And we don't really need that extra city from Slow right now, might as well leave it there, he's not going anywhere.

Sorry just saw this, yeah, that's pretty much the best analogy I've seen around.

I'm without internet connection sooner than expected. If someone can play for me, password is Musashi. Just do what seems obvious. Thanks.
