[SPOILERS] Lurkerloos and map discussion

IMHO it would only be spoilerish (by implication) if India did not have maps of Zulu's former territory. As it is, it should be pretty damn obvious that Commodore is (+/- brief periods of peace) at war Zulu, that Commodore always plays first, and hence India has to play first, else Zulu would need to play their turn in the middle, inevitably delaying the whole game.

Could NakorFool buy Copper/Iron off of Serdoa or SpaceTyrantXenu? They only have one source of metal each, so the price would be ridiculous, but it seems better than fighting with Archers.

Both Serdoa and Xenu are feeling pretty paranoid about each other at the moment. Hard to imagine them trading away their metals, even if there was a compelling diplomatic or strategic case.

As is, the war between India and Zulu has minimal impact on the rest of map, since it is largely self-contained on one island. The net outcome of the war is surely to weaken whoever ends up occupying that land. That land that then a prime target for Serdoa or Xenu to invade themselves.

Overall, I don't see any reason for anyone India are in contact with to trade them metals.

I can't help but wonder why Scooter attacked the flatland axe first. They should have captured the city, and then killed the axe so India gets more war weariness and less GG points on the off chance they lost.

Of course, JF should have moved that axe 3 and tried to avoid getting it sniped by chariots, but that was probably a doomed proposition anyway considering there isn't even a road linking the northern and southern halves of his empire.

Evidently time to leave CFCJesterFool to their drinking... But for future reference, the crux of CFCJesterFool's misunderstanding about having to play defensively first is simple: They don't seem to realise it, but their attacker is simultaneously playing defense last, because their attacker, Commodore, has consistently played early since they met Scooter at the very start of the game. That's a basic mathematical problem when 3 or more teams are interacting with one or more of each other: Everyone can't play in their choice of slot without the game become sequential, which it isn't! This confusion seems to be borne out in CFCJesterFool's prior references to sequential play. I believe they're fundamentally struggling to get to grips with the notion that simultaneous pitboss is not just replacing AIs with humans: In addition, the game's ruleset changes. CFCJesterFool probably would have been much happier with a sequential PBEM game, where the ruleset typically doesn't change. Unfortunately, like Krill, I'm having difficulty spelling this out without spoiling.

As a more general aside, I'm not at all sure it is better to play defense last. Doesn't it rather depend on how one defends - i.e. pro-actively, vs hiding in cities, etc? Ok, I don't want to labour the point about lack of roads and whatnot rather forcing CFCJesterFool down a very defensive interim path. Consider it a more general question.

If Jester had let scooter double move him on T116, he would have had one less turn to move units into his capital.

Hello

Just started reading through the threads and got a query on map trading in the RB Mod

Plako obviously knows about the horses adjacent to Calix but hasn't got AH, would this have been given away by Merohoc when they gave Plako their map for peace?

Very expensive whip (3 pop) but it had to be done.

Why on earth... They already have 60% cultural defenses, walls don't add anything to that. Yes, catapult bombardment will be less efficient, but they're probably not expecting catapults to show up? Anyway, cats would just attack for collateral, and AFAIK walls don't reduce collateral damage?
I have to run.

You can't see resources you don't have the tech for, even if you trade maps with someone who does. But sometimes you can tell from tile yields that a tile has a resource, when one of your opponents with more techs than yourself is working that tile. Plako saw Merohoc work the horse tile, giving a 2f1h yield from a grassland tile, and deduced the existence of horses there.

Why on earth they have an axe in their new city!? This city will not need any units for a while and this axe should be on his way to capital.

P. S. If I read their defenses correctly, in 2 turns they are going to have in capital a spear, an axe, two archers and a bunch of warriors which I don't even bother to count. Next turn the'll be able to add an archer, may be two, and scooter will be able to add 2 cats and 2 axes. I don't think that capital will hold.
