What is the chance that they don't whip? Can they guess how far along we are?
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.

If they really want the wonder, they'll whip this turn. If they want to deny the wonder to us, they'll also whip this turn. I doubt we have much chance of landing Taj right now.

WPC did the map trade late previous turn. We didn't get too much new data (their scouting seems to have been abysmal), but at least we got visibility on three Univers cities, so that's good. Having visibility on the last WPC cities also help.

Best news of the turn:

We have a sentry chariot!

We have also solved the mystery of all the extra income to our shrine:

That's a Hindu monastery, built by Univers! They must have had a natural spread and then went ahead to build missionaries for more of their cities.

In the meantime, the whipped settler in the capital has to go somewhere. Near the sheep resource is probably the best, but feel free to discuss away. Let's pick a spot. smile

I mention the necessity for more workers because of the lack of roads to the new city location. And it looks like our workers are too busy to build them as well.

Can someone offer a map trade to Spanish Apolyton. See if you can attach some 'love' smilie to it too.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

Sullla sent the in-game map trade offers late last turn, and I've been running analysis of the maps the entire morning. The C&D thread has quite a bit of detail.

Honestly, if CFC is doing even rudimentary C&D and sees all the whip shenanigans going on in our capital, they'll probably do it frown

Not sure what we could have done differently. I'm grateful for the Germans sending the Marble early, else we wouldn't even have a chance. Unlike us, they had forest chops to give them an edge. Their wealthbuilds-Nationalism beeline is unexpected, and they're going to pay the price for it with weakened infrastructure and military. Shame we're the ones suffering for it.

The problem is we didn't make a separate "Operation: Taj Mahal" thread. Like Rock, those never lose.

I'll hold out hope for us having a chance until I see CFC whip Lakshmi. They haven't done so yet, and they might see the "3 turns" build time on their Taj Mahal and get greedy. None of our cities show us building Taj right now, so they could very well think that we've given up. I'm perfectly willing to cheese their team with production swaps and encourage them in that mindset.
