TheArchduke tries his best not to be overrun again as Pericles

I think taking the Knight was correct, that was my whole thinking behind the advice above, that we can shoot down the encampment a bit later.

I assume you are not yet done and will retreat the southern horse though smile

Some more thoughts in a sec.

The southern horse is still there, it really does not matter which horse is shot at.

Yeah, but the swordsman attack is for free. A mistake on my part.

So, having lost a knight, I really doubt he will be attacking the encampment, that would be very reckless, he will be guaranteed to lose at least another knight, which would bring the entire offensive to a halt. But he might just, not sure I like the abandoning. Still, what is he definitely going to do is shoot the horse with an archer and the city, for something like 62 damage total. Looks like it should barely survive. I assume he won't then hose it up with the knight, as that would likely just lose him the knight on our go. I think he will reposition.

I am really scared about the 2-promo crossbows. Specifically I'm scared about them making Expert Marksman, which they will, the only question is when. That was actually an important driver behind my desire to burn the encampment, Expert Marksman is just insane.

Incidentally, I think he will now try very hard to damage our exposed crossbow, also double-promoted. Thankfully, I think he can only put two shots into it. Maybe he won't do it, to avoid giving experience :D

Did Woden only buy a luxury? Have you tried him for a loan as well? If we could upgrade another Archer, we'd be really sorted. Could leave other crossbows as pre-builds.

We also have a civics problem -- Feudalism will be "done" up to the boost in just 4 turns, but no builder available to build farms. I guess, rather than paying for a policy change we'd like to buy a builder (in Ithake), chop the builder and build farms between Ithake and Mykenes. If we can get that Woden loan. If we can't, then just wait out ~12 turns for the builder to complete, chop, build, new builder to come out, etc. Two chops, three farms, the would be a spare charge, which can be sent somewhere south. The IZ in Ithake is kinda awkward, but nothing to be done for it. We will eventually build a farm NW of the Mykenes Horse, but for now over the jungle next to the peak and on two tiles next to it. That brings us to 6, I think? Unless you also built a farm in Zacynthus.

No money whatsoever, I asked everyone on favourable terms.

I guess we just have to sit it out.

Well 20 more turns roughly until Singaboy comes knocking. wink

In 20 turns we can have a blob of 6 4-moving 50/62-ranged strength crossbows, i'm not particularly worried. Maybe some of them will even be double-firing.

Side Info, a third knight is chasing my horse in the north.

Well, that's an effective trade of a horse for a knight, so a good thing smile

Oledavy posted, hopefully Woden is back soon. Interesting to see what we can with the encampment next turn.

This is a senseless war.

2 more horseman die, and once again we have the decision to either kill a knight and a horseman.

Or kill the encampment. Once against we can not do both.

I am leaning towards the encampment this time around, the crossbowmen taking potshots on our horseman is annoying.
