I'd like to toss out a diplo idea: Only public diplo. Meaning that all diplo must be done on the forum in an open thread. All players may read all diplo right away, but may only do diplo with players they have met. Would play out very differently from conventional full diplo and CTON games, I think. Diplo would be far less crucial than in a normal game, but it would still be there and have an important role. Obviously, secret pacts and dogpiles would be harder to launch.

Im fine with starting going over picks and such now, although am happy to wait if others desire.
I'm also not to bothered about which diplo is used (full or AI). For the public diplo thread idea I'm not to sure how that would play out to much differently from AI diplo, because the ability for your opponent to see the message pretty much eliminates any talk about war, wonder agreements or anything other than would anyone like to trade me some bannanas?
So can I get a map summary? Level, settings, etc?
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

Well, if you want a 5th (and play on Quick Speed, not going to play another game on normal as pbem...) I'd be interested to join. As for diplo I'd rather have AI-diplo simply because full diplo makes the games sometimes pretty akward and requires much more time or rather it rewards you for investing huge amounts of time into writing emails instead of playing. But if you all have more fun with full diplo I would not mind (just don't expect me to be the communicative one).
I have no major map preference in terms of design.
Its not going to be unbalanced and as long as there's nothing crazy (like barb subs) there shouldn't be a problem. All I would like is that there isn't a huge amount of land between each player (like PBEM 7 which I think was the best map I've played on) so that there's some potential for border issues in the early game. In terms of settings: Quick Speed Barbs on NTT Monarch Vassals off Huts off Events on (for a bit of flavour) Espionage - On but either Spies can be built (but no missions allowed) or no spies (and no missions obvs)

preferred for me would be Inland sea OR Donut (since i guess those are easiest to make 'natural' (as in feeling like fresh from map script) and balanced) Normal Speed (althrough i'm not pushing if the majority want quick speed) Barbs on NTT Monarch (Emperor if Barb off) Vassals off (d'uh) huts off Event off (its simply to much of a who is loved by RNG) espionage on spies off |
