Is that character a variant? (I just love getting asked that in channel.) - Charis

PBEM 28 Organizing/Tech Thread

been feeling like joining yet another PBEM for quite some time, but since there haven't been any regular pbem signup lately i'll cook one myself

My Ideas for a setting would be as such

Normal Sized Inland Sea/Dounut with fairly natural landscape (no blatant doctoring)
Normal Speed
No Barbs
No Tech Trading
High'ish Difficulity (Emperor?)
4-6 Players (preferably teams)
Unrestricted Leaders

the Gimmick for this PBEM would be that i'd love some arrangment of people playing uncommon Leaders/Civs, following a somewhat similar system as how pbem13(?) was run ... a maxinum of one trait from a previously argeed 'best trait' list?

I'll toss my hat into the ring as mapmaker if you guys want. I assume blatant doctoring would mean weird landforms, mirrored starts, etc...I would of course balance resources.
If only you and me and dead people know hex, then only deaf people know hex.

I write RPG adventures, and blog about it, check it out.

yeah ... with Blatant doctoring i'm meaning Mirrored starts and weird forms balancing so there aren't a Plain Cows versus a wetcorn/3Grassland Gems) is of cause allowed, but minute counting if everyone got the same things for within relative reach (not to the length that pbem23 is, with its while not Mirrored then heavily balanced) ... idealisticly looking for a map which aren't unreasonable to guess would come directly off a map script, while at the same time being fair

Not to barge into your business or anything but I think PBEM15 is waiting for you to play the turn...

Not a signup just want to know what you mean here. Do you mean PBEM23 is MORE doctored/balanced than what you'd like for this one? (I'm not sure because of all the negatives.) Just want to make sure that whoever ends up making the map understands their instructions right. smile

Well, Jkaen says he didn't get the turn. You might want to read the tech thread.

two parts Seven ...

overall Balance wise its not too overly doctored (bit on the extensive side, but not too much), but the land shape are clearly not something you'd except from a mapscript

NH ... in which the last post from Jkean was made just before i sent

Sian, how about a point system? Maybe with Financial banned as it's hard to balance. Would Financial/Protective/Americans be unbalanced vs Expansive/Creative/Ottomans, for example?

Maybe something like this:
Financial - 6 points

Expansive - 4 points
Creative - 4 points

Philosophical - 3 points
Spiritual - 3 points

Industrious - 2 points
Charismatic - 2 points

Organized - 1 point
Aggressive - 1 point

Protective - 0 points

Max 8 points total, and civs would range from 2 to 6. Meaning you could get India with either Pro + (Ind or Cha) or Org + Agg. Snake pick as usual. Maybe allow for a little bit of flexibility, so underpicking gives you a sum of gold at the start of the game. Not a major benefit, but it will help you tech up once you've expanded.

That is a fantastic idea *if* there is a definitive pecking order of traits/civs.
