Maybe you should check here for a map script. The script looks promising and certainly deserves a game to be rolled with it to try it out. You could ask some lurkers to give the map a once over to ensure it looks balanced. Seven's intent with the script seems to be to generate balanced and fair maps so it would probably work out better if player skill level issues were addressed by separating the players into vets/greens games rather than reworking an already balanced map to try giving someone a leg up.

Played: Pitboss 18 - Kublai Khan of Germany Somalia | Pitboss 11 - De Gaulle of Byzantium | Pitboss 8 - Churchill of Portugal | PB7 - Mao of Native America | PBEM29 Greens - Mao of Babylon

I wouldn't worry to much about ability in these games. Kyan and Mackoti want to have fun, just like the rest of us. And yeah, they've beaten me awfully in a few games but that doesn't mean that I can't try again, right?

Anyways, maybe let the map maker give everyone their civ/leader in the way of balancing things out? Can we contact Plako for the map? lol

Thanks Nakor. That's exactly it, I just want to play some civ. That's why i've been so nonchalant with the settings. Personally, I'm happy if it's greens/vets. However, i'm also happy to just have one game with or without handicaps.

I'm basically easygoing on all settings with the potential exception of wanting to choose my leader (even if this is from a restricted pool or trait restricted etc.). I want to win, of course I do, but i'm playing to have fun. The leader I have in mind currently is far from top tier. My suggestion would be to do a snakepick. Once the picks are done, you guys can decide if mine and Mack's leaders are too powerful. If so, we can tone them down. Knowing Mack, he won't be choosing anything obvious either.

I also think we're doing some discredit to people like Shoot and Nakor who are experienced players in their own right.

Hey, I put Shoot and Nakor in the vets group smile MusicMan, are you more keen on the 5p game with me as dedlurker or forming two games if we can find more green players? That said, I do think I'm slowly graduating from newbie class to whatever the next one is.

lets see if theres any more interest first. sounds like youre keen to play. anyway can we team together whilst paying against each other in pbem33?

That wouldn't be a problem, but I left PBEM33 before it started. I had major Civ burnout around the time it started, so I decided to leave both that one and PBEM29g.

Sounds like an option. Catwalk and Musicman team up?

I'd like to try something else as well. Restricted Snake Pick?
Do we have a map maker yet?

I'm up for being MusicMan's devoted dedlurker, with him being the turnplayer. He will have final authority in terms of decisions, I will keep up with most turns and check the save on a regular basis. I can sub on occasion as needed.

What kind of civ/leader restrictions do you suggest? For the sake of the game (and in our personal interests), I think a significant handicap would make for a better game. What's everybody's time zone? I'm GMT +2, as soon as I get home from my vacation here in Texas.

Randomise unrestricted then let MusicMan etc. pick from list first?

Randomise? As in generate 5 random leaders? That'd be a very minor handicap, and would not really let people pick their own combo either. I propose the following:

TheMusicalCat team: No restrictions
Nakor and Shoot the Moon: Max one of FIN, EXP, India, Inca
mackoti and Kyan: FIN, EXP, India, Inca not allowed

Snake pick order:
1. TheMusicalCat team
2. Nakor
3. Shoot the Moon
4. Kyan
5. mackoti
6. TheMusicalCat team
7. Nakor
8. Shoot the Moon
9. Kyan
10. mackoti

Turn order:
1. TheMusicalCat team
2. Nakor
3. Shoot the Moon
4. Kyan
5. mackoti

That order ranks Shoot above Nakor in skill and mackoti above Kyan. If that ranking is off or if you think the handicaps are too big (I agree they are significant), do say so. I think the handicaps would help even the odds and make it a more interesting game for all parties concerned.
