PBEM5(Q) Everybody Wang Kon tonight!

2 turns to oracle. I am not sure that my opponent is even building it.

I'm trying to decide on CoL or MC. Maybe math. My thought is CoL, which gives a religion, but more importantly, a border pop somewhere and, perhaps, i can get another holy city with a 2nd city with hinduism. Creative border pops are important when up against a creative civ.

I whipped out the settler I had in queue. Move the settler, then finish oracle, send the missionary to the other city and then finish hinduism. Make a couple more workers, then more settlers. Plus some bowmen now and again.

Sloppy, in that I didn't check to see what was out there. Lucky, in that I won't lose the settler. The question is.. do I settle it? (I have a warrior that can make it in) he's got less than a 10% chance of taking the city... but then, he has a 10% chance of killing the city. if razing was off, i'd do it, cause I could just take it back. I don't really want to delay it, though.

So, I got oracle and CoL and polytheism. He attacked my city at 3.6% odds and died... so that works out fine all around.

A state of the civ post, here on turn 51 (I wish I had done it on turn 50, but hey)

Toad Hall (capital) - the cap is not going to be a huge cottage farm - it's not really set up for that. i'll probably end up moving the cap to Watership down at some point, to take advantage of a bureau cap. Or I'll do somehting different, i dunno.

I have it building a library - that's so it can grow. A lib there is useful in general, but it's going to kick out a settler for the fish/fur coastal site.

My research city - it has a lib and will grow into a temple, i think, for the happy. It expands next turn, as well. It will kick out a worker next, i think.

Pure production city - main military bulwark to the east, but will kick out the occasional settler as well. And, of course, the gold. Happy is something you have to work to get. I think a settler is next after growth - it will go south the silver, I think.

This will be a production site - I'll put moai here and Collosus, if I get it. I have to figure out if I want to build the lighthouse - I can see several coastal cities, at least one of which is offshore, so it might well be useful. probably fit in a court house here somewhere, as well.

Math is next - will look to get fishing, masonry and sailing soon. Will need IW for the jungles up north and calendar for those resources. Currency, too, sooner rather than later.

I have 3 more sites to settle soon, plus I need another west of the city to be a unit pump, trying to be a little further west than he settled Ar. I hope to claim more land than he does and backfill, relying on the archers and cheap walls to keep him away. it's not going to be easy, though...

yes, I meant the Great Lighthouse. I think I will not be going for it, but maybe...

I pasted together the map - I don''t have it all uncovered, but I can get most of it from my lands and his.

Near the whales, south, there is an island. it's ice covered and have no non-whale food... but it IS an island.

I can get 4 or 5 coastal cities easy, and they give resources... but over all suck. The better land is north.

I think I'm going to not build the Great Lighthouse - it ain't cheap, anyway. I will try to get Colossus, but will mainly settle north.

I'm trying to figure out if I should try to settle into his gold, too. If I can pull that off, that would be great. Dunno if I can do it, though.

Next 2 cities are the fur and the horses just north of me, though.

ok - some thoughts:

1) want to get stonehenge
2) I think I am going to just build units, settlers and workers for awhile, and mainly bowmen for defense for the units - some spears here and there to take care of chariots. a couple of barracks, not much anything else - try to expand with him and set down those cottages.... lots of cottages...

It's AutomatedTeller smile It's been AutomatedTeller on the internet for a decade or so now... I didn't change it, cause I dunno what would happen if I did...
