Brief update, showing the probable zenith of my PBEM51 empire:
Healing a turn and heading to Turfan next. Beshabalik has enough forces that I will need to commit all of my available CKNs to even have a chance at the city. Moreover, retep has 2 cats and an axe plus an archer in the vicinity of Turfan. I can capture Turfan and move back towards Beshabalik. That chariot was moved back to safety after this picture. 5 turn build for Great Lighthouse. I am settling an island city in two turns, which will give me 5 coastal cities for an immediate 10 commerce. Moreover, I am refraining from whipping until Courthouses which are badly needed. Changed COL to finish in 2 turns @ 60% research. I am making an effort to hit Azza here next turn to clean up his Ancient Era units here. I have 2 workers which can road the grassland tile and enable CKNs to strike. Unpromoted CKNs get 73% on a fully fortified archer and 78% on an axe. I have 2 10xp CKNs which can promote to cover, if necessary, as Azza has feudalism and hence LBs. Edit: One of which is obviously already promoted to C1, Cover, Morale.
Now is the probable zenith. Waiting to get rolled by Khmer Elephants, but must appropriately bestow new cities with Van Halen goodness.
Threads are getting updated here? The slow turn pace has really made this a passive affair. Recently, that's changed (the passivity part
![]() Azza is finishing up a golden age. He's the only one close to me in GNP. Tech wise, I have a decent advantage: I've been running low on military since absorbing retep. That GNP looks real nice, but it's heavily saturated with culture. I'm running a monk economy, only missing the Sistine Chapel and Spiral Minaret, and have been wonder whoring it up something fierce. I should get the Econ GM after next turn and then head to Rifling to feel a bit better about protecting myself. I'm finishing up a round of military builds in Theo and will revolt in two turns back to OR for University construction. I've got a high enough GNP though, that it's possibly a better option to keep building military to ensure I don't get surprised. Turning point after absorbing retep was constructing the FP in his lands which led a ~55gpt savings. Printing Press was another nice boost as there are cottages everywhere. It was worth about ~35 base commerce at the time and is in the low 40s now. Land shots: Lots of unimproved tiles on the border with Oxy, not interested in trading worker guarding parties for smaller raiding parties while at a numbers disadvantage. Plus, I know he's got a stack of knights somewhere, I'd rather keep a large force in Beshabalik (the FP city) with the fortify bonus. No wheat and no corn on this map has made health a disaster. |
