So been really struggling on how to report on this, given I cant really talk big strategic decisions when most people don't really know the game engine.
I did change my mind on the empire policy as follows given my experience with other games: ![]() Getting to the point where the barb villages are popping out units right now that appear quite nicely ont he map ![]() Based on your race, your cities look very different, for example: ![]() You can really use terrain to your advantage in battles, for example here due to the cliffs the Minotaurs have to either go through my hero (good defense) or a long way round to get to my archers ![]() I ended up pacifying a city state to get the bonuses, to be honest this isn't one of the bests, but i didn't want to wait another 100 turns until i settled an area with a decent one ![]() Landed a nice quest line off a hut which makes you try to hit as many huts within a 15 turn period for increasing rewards staring with 15 emeralds (luxury resource) up to 15 glassteel (strategic) and 15 gold (luxury) before I failed Main quest gave me a free tech ![]() Before tasking me to explore a ruins with a mixed army, to have a 6 person army requires a tier 2 tech delaying the achievement of this, and means you cant hang off assimilating a civ for too long ![]() Winter comes at various timed intervals wth worsening effects depending on the age, you can tell the range for how long summer and winter will last from the numbers to the top right of the end turn button ![]() Everything else was fairly run of the mill stuff, explored ruins with similar results to those already shown, found a few new AI's and city states and generally progressed along the tech tree. End of turn 40 led me to this point exploration wise ![]() If anybody has any aspects they want me to highlight in the next batch of reports, please let me know
How large can the maps get? Going by your last screencap, it looks like your world might be limited to about 6 cities per faction?
If you remember at the start I chose a normal map size with 6 civs on it, this gives about 3-4 regions per person from experience. obviously by changing either the map size or the number of civs this can be adjusted accordingly.
Additionally if I recall in the advanced set up options you can set the size of the regions, I havent played with that but I assume that if you set the regions to half their current size you will end up with twice as many (October 13th, 2014, 13:16)Jkaen Wrote: Getting to the point where the barb villages are popping out units right now that appear quite nicely ont he map What does it mean by +1f from terrain with plains? And does the length of summer and winter change too?

It means that that tile yield is being modified by one for being a plains tile. That little bit of ui isn't that useful when looking at something simple, but a level 2 district during winter in a highly build-up city can have a lot of modifiers, and this provides a way to look at what is causing what. 2. The amount of techs you have researched, once you research enough and enter a new age more become available. 3. I believe winters get longer and summers get shorted, but because the number is semi-random I don't know for sure. Also Jkaen, you should try the cultists after this, they are a lot of fun. Their unique thing is that they are running a one city challenge, get stuff from razing other cities, and can get mini-cities by converting minor faction villages to the cult.
Surprise! Turns out I'm a girl!
Yeah but what does plains mean in this case? Does it mean that the terrain is mostly flat?

I guess that means grassland is a terrain feature then?

Actually no, forget everything I just said. I checked in-game and the "plains" modifier applies in addition to the terrain type, but only on some flat tiles. Grassland is the terrain type. Sorry for the confusion.
