[spoilers] Commodore Milks Nostalsia as Pete of Mede

Uh - you've mistyped the traits (Ind, not Org) in the headline; got the right ones in the discussion and the analysis though!

Just waiting to see if horses turn up... AH is due next turn I think?

Yep, Greenline may be feeling a bit better about his techs if his start is a mirror.

Unfortunately, the answer is:

Nadda. No horses. Anywhere. Ever.
Bumped into ipecac's scout, so he knows where we are. Finding even more seafood. Gogo Sid's Sushi!

Bah. Still, could be some in fog west of cap. That might be too far away for an early hookup though. Wait and see... beginning to wish you guys had stuck with quick speed!

C'mon, there is FoW within 4 tiles of your capital! not seeing strat resources is a common outcome when you scout deep, you know that.

Also, I'm not spoiled, care for a ded lurker?

Oh, I know, I know, but it's more fun to complain. Warrior just popped out, so I'll poke around the wheat site. Optimistic it'll be a horse in those tiles fogged.

You're welcome to dedlurk, although be prepared for some lackdalasicalism.

This is great from my point of view - one more veteran viewpoint to learn from.

@Commodore - if you get a chance, could you post a detailed screenshot of the land around the wheat once you've defogged? I'd like to poke some more facts into my sim and have another play.

I haven't opened civ in 10 months, and I've been on a downward spiral for a couple of years. I wouldn't put that much by my thoughts anymore. I don't even have the desire to play a new game TBH.

And this is base BtS, which I don't think I've played on what we now consider standard settings. Ever. Dedlurked a couple of games but that's about it.

Planning on skipping religion Com? Got other plans to pop borders?

There's an IND civ, and a CHA civ in the game so I'm not sure I'd want to be chasing Stonehenge or the Oracle (chopped out in a third city, in the forests to the east of the cap?), but no civs starting with Myst (or with SPI for that matter). I would have thought that heading for an earlyish religion might actually be doable if desired.

What's the alternative? I can see pushing for writing might synergise with PHI, but libraries are pricy and it's a long way to music. Genuinely curious; I tend to fall back on Oracle -> CoL in my games, but that's against AI...

Absolutely; warrior is bumbling thataways now.

First city shouldn't need culture; if we can swing the first 2-3 with just capital expansions I'll be happy. I'm not fond of great prophet as first GP, so I'd rather not go for Stonehenge (unless it casually falls into my lap 50+ turns in). Hinduism or Buddhism ought to be doable without too much issue.

You only want to share one of the capital food resources, right? And as they are inner ring, that means you are going to be settling minimum distance either east or west, but not both. And ideally getting as early a granary as possible ion the capital if you split the food?

That's suggesting settling north or south of the wheat, split the sheep, improve the third food (wheat) and then chop the second granary with a single forest as you're EXP.
