(SPOILERS) Amicalola and Irismono Try Their Best

Actually, maybe 1 of Quechua to get to size 4, then start a settler in prep to doublewhip? Or is that too greedy and should save double whip for spear? Curious for your thoughts Iris

Played.

moved the quechua onto the next hill, in direction of the sheep to see if that might be a good city site later on. Where next?

Workers went onto the hill. I didn't have instructions for the marked quechua, so I left it in place.

Quechua at the cap was built at the end of the turn. I didn't change any tiles. What do I do with the new pop at the cap?

Research should be binary imo, but I left it as found on 80%.

Anything else you need to know? I didn't play turn 37 awaiting your instructions, and will not before tomorrow night (~21 hours from now)

Irismono,  of course if you want to play I'll step aside anytime,  it just seemed you had real trouble finding the time so I went ahead

You're a lifesaver man.
Capital working on another quechua, and working the 3h plains hill tile with the extra pop. The quechua in between the cities is good to move to Gooch Mtn now, while the new one could stay in Springer. Workers mining the hill, lastly western Quechuas could head onto the grassland forest SW of its current position. Thanks again!

workers are mining, Quechua moves to 2nd city.

uilt another quechua this turn, keep doing that? You'll have overflow for three more instantaneous ones I think

moved SW, although that's a plains hill wink . The lion was defeated on the interturn, I didn't record if the quechua got any hits, sorry. Should he heal or just move on?

Hunting finished, which tech do you want to go for next?

Anything else you'd want to see?

Looking good from my perspective, thank you for playing by the way, I got hit with a surprise project right before we were supposed to be finished for the semester.

All looking good! Quechua in west should heal if injured, move to the Grass/forest hill (i double checked this time :P ) to the NE if uninjured. Keep building quechuas for at least the next 2 turns, yep! Hoping to move the new Quechua up to that desert copper near good ol' EG. Think that's everything you need, but let me know. Thanks again, especially for such detailed reporting! Hoping to research The Wheel -> Pottery next, non-binary. Is there a reason to binary when theres no wonders or anything at stake??

Oh! Actually I had a question, how do you make your full screen screenshots small enough to attach? I've been needing to crop mine but it would be great not to.

New Quechua is moving north. Workers keep mining. The exploring Quechua is at 1.4/2 and needs 3 turns to heal. Research set to wheel. I missed last turn that somebody built Stonehenge, but I think that doesn't affect your plans?

cities:

regarding the usefulness of binary research, have a look at this:

Your costs per turn are at 2 gold currently. At 80% research, you pay those 2 gold and get 10 beakers = 12 total commerce you produce. But at 0% and 100% respectively, you produce 11 gold or 13 beakers (on deficit), so 13 commerce, almost 10% more! That happens because civ rounds down the fractions of gold and beakers that you produce (but also the costs!). So, looking on your city screens, instead of 10.4 beakers and 2.6 gold, you just get 10 and 2.
That's the output part. The other reason is that stuff can happen that may make you want to change plans. If you then have saved gold instead of having committed the commerce into a tech you don't really want anymore, you can switch without losses. So it gives you more time to develop and reassess your plans.

Regarding the shots, my workflow is:
  • I take the shot in civ by hitting the print key (I'm playing in windowed mode, and I have to maximize the window, else the screenshots fail). They go to documents/my games/civ 4 bts/screenshots
  • upload them on imgur (I think some people use their dropboxes although there seem to exist difficulties with that). Once they're up, I right click on them and pick "copy image address" (I use Firefox in German, might actually be called different and it may work differently in another browser)
  • copy into the post using screenshot tags (if you quote this post, you should be able to see what it looks like, as well as the imgure URL format)

Started to play the new turn 39 but realized I don't know what to do with the new Quechua (the one from t38 is moving north, but we have another one, and will have yet another one the turn after)

Thanks Miguel, all looking good.
Have been trying to work out if I want to stack the quechuas in Springer or Gooch (one stack feels better than two small ones). I think EG would attack Gooch because of the copper (he must know that we're racing for spears right?) so maybe send all new quechuas to Gooch from now on, other than the scouting one I sent to the copper. Other than that, instructions basically the same. Thanks also for screenshot and binary info! Maybe will begin binary now, that all made a lot of sense. smile
