So I'll just rapid-fire through these so I don't have to think about them any longer. If you're scoring at home, you'll recall we fired our first GA on T99. We held the turn for a while planning out our GA and decided on a Hail Mary: If we ran wealth builds in 90% of the empire, we could Liberalize Constitution on T104. At that time, Commodore was down Paper, Education, Liberalism. But what we felt we had going for us was that having already teched Nationalism and built Taj Mahal there really wasn't anything interesting he could take with Liberalism. So while we had no doubt he could beat us there if he beelined with his superior tech rate, we also assumed he'd want to tech something that would make his Liberalism grab more useful. So, anyway, we went for it.
On T100 we ran the following builds in our cities (New Tristram completed a forge):
We teched Iron Working as it doubled as being an essential tech and allowing us to maximize overflow. We discovered Iron at the capital:
This also was the start of the most interesting subplot of these turns - Ichabod's Power Level:
T100 Demos:
T101 rolled around, and its more of the same. Wealth everywhere:
We began research on Nationalism this turn. This graph led to a "Dave's dead baby, Dave's dead" line in our turn-playing conversation:
Demographics:
T102:
At this point, we were able to ascertain that Commodore had bulbed Education. While we tried to talk ourselves out of it, there was a definite sense of foreboding as we played the turn that our Hail Mary was deflected in the endzone. Our wealth build reliance lessened somewhat as we finished Nationalism (Caldeum just finished a mace) :
Our man in Byzantium saw a few pieces of the Phracthammer rolling off the line:
Said Phracthammer:
My main man So-Crates was born in Cathedral, with this intent:
The demographic situation:
That brings you all up to date. I'll do a city-by-city extravaganza at some point in the near term but now the question is - where do we go from here? We could hand tech Constitution as Representation would be a lot better for us than HR, where we get no value. Or we could just start pushing towards Rifling. The problem is, we're basically point-of-no-return. We needed our whole empire on wealth builds to keep up with EZ mode over there and assuming he libs a ~1k beaker tech he's up about 3k beakers on us. So any military plan that relies on us having a tech advantage is out. *shrug*
