When does the peace treaty run out? If you just read about Commodore's plans to attack WC then that was a very leading question, Q
IMHO this is dangerous behavior for a global lurker, Qgqqqqq. Pindicator responded directly to you, but many would not. Instead, they'd take a look at their garrison, and subconsciously start considering that it wasn't sufficient, or similar. In matters of war, those small margins can be game changing. To say that it is reasonable because you know what the team thinks is equally dangerous. What they've written, and what they are thinking right now, are not always the same.

See, in this instance I disagree, because scooter and Pindicator have already said they are abandoning that city, that they expect Commodore to attack them, and that they have signed a peace treaty with him. He is just asking for information that is available in the thread but might not be easily accessible.
That said, there was a picture on the previous page that showed the city with a garrison of 2 units and 2 workers.

- You can only beat the person in front of you. They did that, and in a more thorough manner than I thought possible.
- Harrassing with Impis early, plus settling right on on Commodore, would have probably meant that the Zulu could win a war long term provided they kept ivory out of their reach. I'm not certain that this would have happened, because Commodore and Thoth would like have played a much more conservative game and defended that ivory to the death. Once those Ballistaphants came flowing out of the cities, I think they might have been 20 turns behind on capturing LJS, at most.

Early choke wars are a losing proposition in a full length MP game IMO. ScooPin's best chance was either to kill CommoTh early or go strong on economy building, and grabbing good land while defending sufficiently. Despite not looking in their thread I don't think the Zulu did either (well obviously they didn't do the first).

The thing with impis is impis don't just choke, they pillage into dust if the opponent has no metal. Team zulu new there was no metal against them, but they didn't even try to use impis. Imagine CommoThoth land with no farms and no pastures and no mines, they would have no economy to do anything.

Nah, they couldn't have pillaged the core two cities in this instance: there were only two routes into their core, one of them through a one tile wide isthmus and the other through flatland at the ivory site which is obvious city #3. Once that flatland is deforested it's just a constant war of attrition to do anything, and taking that city is easier than getting impi past it. And archers on forests have odds on impi on defence anyway and hammer wise it's not clear cut who "wins". The better option is to try and raze/resettle the ivory city, then sit there until cats and WE allow a cost efficient offense.
But that all comes down to the turn timings, and I don't think any of us are 100% sure on how quickly Zulu could have gotten an impi in place, nor the Khmer that third city down, the city deforested and populated with archers, so the conversation isn't exactly worth much.

I agree that the Khmer have played well but we shouldn't forget that absolutely awful pink dot attempt. They've gotten a lot of luck in having an opponent not decide to fight until it was too late - curiously, similar luck that team Zulu is experiencing vs. India, though that all just plays into the Khmer hands long term as well.

Why isn't the Khmer super-galley grabbing circumnav? their minimap looks like they lack about 10 tiles on the vertical. Only Brick (the Viking!) has as good a map position to grab the wonder.

It is interesting to compare an amount of discussion/thinking/simming we saw in India thread earlier when they mostly have only routine empire management to talk about and now when they are engaged in a hot war for their survival. Really, it looks like these guys would be interested in an Always Peace game...

Oddly enough, Nakor has already played an Always Peace game, PBEM22.
