Well, Henge didn't fall...and someone just settled a fifth city I think? Someone just hit 60 crop yield which is pretty high...
I've updated the MM worksheet because there is an error in the sim with the number of worker turns. The MM now correctly reflects the state of things in the real game. Just hope we get a good deal for the dye city.

Okay, as Krill stated we did not see Henge fall this turn. Two more nervous turns to go . We found more yucky jungle on our home continent:
And we continue to fall behind:
Barely average on crop yield, and I doubt we'll be at 60 until the HG falls .

3. We acknowledge that we cannot stop you from settling 6 tiles from your capital.
4. We also require first dibs on a second spare happiness resource since your city will claim the only dyes visible to us.
Seal the deal by offering OB as soon as one of us has Writing. May our empires live long and prosper.
Not sure that's straight talk for #3 . Draft reply:
Darrell Wrote:Sounds good :-). We did not tech Writing last turn since there was no deal in place (I held the save overnight just in case!), and would like to finish the tech we are on before going back to Writing. I still think we get it one turn before you though. For item #4, we'll give you dibs on the Gems from the Gems/Dye city. I am guessing the Incense will be available first though, since that site really requires Iron Working which is not in our immediate tech path.

Oh, and that 60 crop yield has to be from 5 cities.
I wonder what their GNP is like? I wouldn't worry about it tbh. Now that we have this deal in place we are really close to spamming a few more cities, but we need to be careful:

Doesn't say they won't settle there.

Yeah, my alarm bells went off at #3.
I would push them on it before giving them OBs.

Well, let's talk about that. As I mentioned in an earlier post, one downside in including clause #3 is that they are aware there is a race for that spot. That downside has been realized. My reply was crafted to make it seem we aren't in a rush to settle that spot, in the hopes that they delay settling it themselves. My confidence in fooling them is no doubt as high as their's was in fooling us . Given the delay in response, and the chat I had with novice, I am quite sure clause #3 was a matter of great internal debate in their team. I do not believe there is any chance we can improve their answer to #3. Any attention drawn there only serves to increase the probability they beat us to the spot.
Now, Krill has mentioned asking for a NAP in a few turns. The theory being that it will be too late for them to get a Settler down to that spot if they hadn't started the process. My fear is that it could induce an emergency whip, or clever use of Fast Workers to get some emergency chops. I plan on settling the city with enough military to hold it if things get nasty. I believe that a warlike response is not going to happen if we win the race. They need to expand, and they need trade routes to pay for it.
I think its worth noting that their clever wording to #3 cuts both ways. They did not accept the clause, so its terms are not in effect .

Considering 5 chops = 1 settler and their third city is just 4 turns old...and they just built GLH in their second city...I'm not entirely sure they can settle a fifth city on that spot before we can settle it. So if we see a fourth city settled I'd relax a bit.
And FWIW unless we see a good reason not to, I'd say settle on the dyes instead of 1SW. The only reason I can think of is a food resource stuck in the FoW, but that would still be usable by a southern city.
