Nothing like the Prodigal Sons: The Odd Couple actually play as themselves.

My current plan is actually NOT to road the GLH on the first pass, but to camp the ivory directly and then come back to road the hill and ivory after cottaging the first flood plains. Yes, it's shitty, but camping the ivory and cottaging sooner should be better. Try it.

I love the carefully placed peak and lake to forbid you of settling a Capital with pigs and wheat.

t15 - Peace is the way
Offered Gavagai peace. Exploration showed some corn. Fascinating stuff. ![]() Next turn probably SE-SW. We finished Hunting on the IT and started Pottery. We're almost assuredly doing AH after that. Still debating the precise micro plan but we're currently leaning towards Pottery > AH > BW > Mysticism and settling the hill. But the last part in particular is deeply in debate. There's nothing here, but Noble asked for Gavagai's power graph, so I'll share it. Nothing surprising - just weird, we've never had anyone's graphs this early before. ![]() ![]() ![]()

Checking back in after a long break. I read that you had simmed the start some more. Can you link the sandbox? I have more time this week than previous weeks, so I can do some updating. C&D you're still on your own.

I had intended to write our latest sim results with the hopes that other could iterate on them, but I really just sort of forgot about it. Most recent sandbox is here. (I think.)

t16 - Sheepland, redux?
Decided to just play the turn since we'd already discussed the scout move which was the only interesting thing this turn. Gavagai accepted peace, so we have a 10t treaty. I'd like to keep at least mediocre relations with him, because well, we don't have a good start plan and what we need is time. Here's the scout reveal, a second sheep resource. Definitely want to land on the Sheep tile next turn so we can see the contents of that valley, then continue forging in a generally SE fashion after that. Can see a fairly decent argument for settling 1NW of the sheep as a second border city against Gavagai, but need to see the rest of the area before we figure that out. ![]() Since the last turn has been a while, here's a shot of the situation at home: ![]() And demos. No score, since you can see it directly above. ![]()

Move west before moving onto the hill next turn, we might spot a bear or something with the first move.

I've made an updated sandbox with more map information based on the one I made previously. I don't think that I ever verified tech costs there but they should be ok based on map size (92x40) and difficulty if I understand correctly. Please confirm.
I need to verify a few things, so next time you are in game, please give me the EoT values for food in the box, hammers into the warrior, and beakers into Pottery. Once I have this, I'll post the updated sandbox. I know I'm going to have to tinker with the foodbox a bit because I can see it is off right now, but I'll put a banana/PH under the city or FP under the corn to get food/hammer values right. If we're off on tech, I'll put random cottage/villages under the city. Thanks! |
