I edited the sandbox link into the second post, fwiw. Looks like good work, Boldly. I'll have more to say later.

So Krill did his own tier list because he's Krill, and while I think it sucks, I wouldn't want to leave our esteemed dedlurkers with any doubts that they're missing out by staying in our far cooler and more interesting thread.
Without further ado, Krilltiers:
Quote:Thoth made me post it, so I thought I'd give it to you as well. Not many people moved.
Tier 1 - Unknown
mackoti, SevenSpirits, Krill, plako, novice, Noble, Serdoa,
Tier 2 - People that might reach tier 1 but not proven
(blank because this is generally where people might move to from tiers 5 and 6.5)
Tier 3 - High Skill Cap Veteran
Pindicator, scooter, Ceiliazul, zakalwe, Commodore, Thoth,
Tier 4 - Competitive Veteran
Gaspar, regoarrarr, Lewwyn, Nicolae, WK, ShootTheMoon, luddite, Ilios, Lord Parkin,
Tier 5 - Some proven potential but more games to confirm worthy of tier 4 or higher
Old Harry, fintourist, WilliamLP, Kyan,
Tier 6.5 - Has Potential (i.e. unrealized veteran potential, few games played)
dtay, retep, Oledavy, Bigger, Gavagai, Boldly, Cornflakes, slowcheetah, Ichabod, dazedroyalty, dtay, wetbandit, GES, SleepingMoogle, Ellimist, kjn, Bacchus,
Tier 6.5 - Low Skill Cap Veteran/Slowly learning newbie (numerous games played with known outcomes)
Cyneheard, Sullla, Brick, Sian, 2Metra, spacetyrantxenu, Merovech, TheHumanHydra, suttree, thestick, Yuri, YossarianLives, Caledorn, Oxyphenbutazone, antisocialmunky, Tatan, Mardoc, Azza,
Tier 7 - Greens Game Level (really new, or shown unable to adapt to MP)
Qgqqqqq, DMOC, HitAnyKey, Ruff, mostly_harmless, Jester
Tier 8 - SP level
Nakor, Jowy, BaII, Dhalphir, Kurumi, Halvgud, Jkaen, Dantski, Catwalk, Brian Shanahan, Twinkletoes,
Tier 9 - The Dregs
Archduke, Kuro, ad hoc, gingereagle, Adlain
Tier 10 - The Abyss
Tier 11 - Lead boots
Darrell
Seven's response to Krill sending him our list:
Quote:Cool.
A bold move to sort the bottom tiers so finely and even label them. And post them publicly. And put themselves near the top.
I hate Seven. I'm not even going to pretend anymore. He doesn't even try to rankle and he rankles. He just rankles the shit out of me. Consider me rankled.

The scout facing reveals whether you moved west first or not.
Anyway I think the next scout move depends on whether the tile 2SE of the scout is an open tile or not. Can't really tell from that screenshot...

Based on the way the forest tile art appears on the tiles 1SE and 2E/1S, I think it is more likely than not that 2SE is open (not forested). I'd place my certainty at ~60%. That's only slightly better than I have no idea, but I'm not volunteering for flying camera shenanigans tonight. But I don't think we need to worry about it. Most likely our warrior can get this defogged without any risk to us. I think NE/SE is better for next turn.

Is Krill's list supposed to have such a big gap between T5 and T6.5.1? I feel somehow like I got demoted, but I don't really mind. It isn't exactly like I've accomplished anything in MP anyway. Except finishing ahead of Xenu now in two separate popularity contests. Take that, little brother!

Purposes of Krill's list:
- Promote himself
- Promote himself
- Insult rego
- Insult Sullla
- Insult Darrell
- Promote himself again
- There are no other purposes

Yeah, putting Sullla in the same group as me lends absolutely zero credibility to the rankings. If Krill wanted to leave Sullla off the list from a lack of recent games then maybe I could see that but I don't think you can credibly rank him lower than tier 3, and if he was in an actual game against those guys I think I'd favored him over the others to win in a vacuum. Not him over the field, just the favorite of the group.
Anyway if that ranking is supposed to have some kind of bell curve shake it's too top heavy. Some of those tier one guys would be tier two I think, otherwise the second tier only exists to say the top guys are so much better than the next tier down. And while they may indeed be that much better they play in the same games as the tier three players and are subject to the same randomness inherent in each game, and that serves to pull them down from the cloud Krill is putting them on anyway. If they were that much better they'd win every time, and that isn't guaranteed.
But these are fun, so thanks for posting them.

The first one, sure. On the second, I cannot be outspammed. Let's be serious, shall we?
t18 - The one with the minor scout debate
(As an aside, I prefered putting the turn titles in the post title, but when we switched forums, that got lost in all my old games, so I put it here now.)
Here's the scout discussion:
Quote: Gaspar: my instinct is NE-SE
NobleHelium: Well I don't know, we might miss tiles that way but I'm not sure
And I'm not sure the warrior can scout as boldly says at all, because we might want to need it to fortify on the desert tile ASAP in anticipation of the worker going there to road
If you can chart a path with ne se that doesn't leave any gaps in the scouting then that would be fine
Gaspar: lemme log in
NobleHelium: Ok
Gaspar: Well
looking at it, I think we should go SW-S after all
cap doesnt pop 3rd ring til t50
fucking normal speed
thats not really the issue though
NobleHelium: what do you mean SW-S
Gaspar: the path that takes us closer to the capital
the issue is we would eventually get those tiles unfogged, most likely by the scouts return route
NobleHelium: why do that instead of SE onto the forest?
god damn you and your cropping
Gaspar: well
theres water and another peak there
NobleHelium: give me a full screenshot of the area around the scout with the capital in view
Gaspar: here let me give you a full SS
NobleHelium: well i think we can do SE then SE-S
then SW which takes us to the tile south of the peak
Gaspar: alright
NobleHelium: make a note to work the flood plain next turn at size 2
Gaspar: i mean theres probably nothing interesting there, but horse or copper could pop there
NobleHelium: okay that's fine
having the warrior fortify ahead of time is a good idea
Gaspar: right
alright, moving worker to the gh and ending turn
anything else you want to see?
NobleHelium: keep checking the power graph for movement from gavagai i guess
are we still even on EP?
i.e. has he met anyone else
Gaspar: he has not
NobleHelium: ok
Gaspar: his power graph is flat
NobleHelium: so yeah probably SE-S then SW-SE
Gaspar: yeah, probably
That's not especially interesting 9:30AM chatter, but it was the easiest way to walk you to how we made our decision. Anyway, here's the new shot:
And the new demos:
