Why do you say that? All they did was bend the truth about marble in an unverifiable wayso they could do a ridiculous Taj gamble you didn't forsee when drafting the agreement. This did not violate the letter of the NAP. Its not like RB has the moral high ground to argue 'spirit of the agreement' after the ivory shenanigans.

It was not "unverifiable." We just didn't say anything about it.

Still, if you don't have a morale high ground, you're just asking to get trolled by legalism.

This is a Civ IV, not law school. Ignore the legalism. Might makes right, and our position is sufficiently justifiable to any other teams that might question it.

That massive army, that is stuck in Germany and can't actually do anything to the non-Germans this turn?

Armies get that way when told to patrol the tundra... Agree we need to send a quick acknowledgement. Parkin can do it for sure.

As for a meaty response, there really aren't any good suggestions. If we were in their position the best response would be to turn around and go home. I guess the best thing for their morale (and continued friendship) is to suggest for them to take the pointless arctic cities because tht's all they are capable of. We can leave them some scraps later if we think it will keep a friend.

I don't think we should tell them to die in a single bloody battle, much as it might help our cause. We want them to stay in the war.

This mumbling about our military amazingness makes me laugh. We've gambled, maybe not everything, but certainly our advantage on a quick ending to the German war. Our forces are a liability, not an advantage while we're at war with the Germans. We're economically weak, militarily vulnerable and diplomatically isolated, getting played by every team in the game, knowing that we need them more than they need specifically us.

Again, we are not in a position to make threats, issue fiats, or even grumble like angry old men. When we can not convince people it is in their long term interest to side with us, than remaining silent will make us seem more powerful than childish complaining. At least then the only thing they can look at from us is our #1 place on power and the knowledge that we are growing back our last round of drafting and are not afraid to send the next generation packing to the trenches.

If we're in that bad of shape, then yeah, you're right. If we have to just silently accept whatever they want to do to us, then fine.

But they willl escalate from here. That's what they've been doing, and they will continue to do so. We will see more towns pillaged, possibly additional units in theatre to do it with, and they will come up with additional ways to inconvenience and sabotage us.

How about you do:

"If you don't stop pillaging, there will be consequences."

Just something vague, if you are that annoyed with them. Invoke the NAP cancellation clause after the Germans are dead.
