Intersite Game - Turn Discussion Thread

Nitpick but could be relevant: Is this noon EST (Eastern Standard Time), or Eastern Daylight Time?

I assume it's probably the latter, which makes it 16:00 GMT not 17:00. It is 17:00 British Summer Time. GMT doesn't change for daylight time, BST does.

I intend to declare war and play the turn tomorrow (June 8) at noon EST (17:00 GMT). I've set up a Livestream on Twitch that we can use, at the following location: http://www.twitch.tv/rbciv/

Great! thumbsup

And even better if the turn can be watched later in youtube/somewhere else as I'm not going to be available at that time. cry

Can I suggest that we not attack using elephants when our chance of victory is 99%.
I have finally decided to put down some cash and register a website. It is www.ruffhi.com. Now I remain free to move the hosting options without having to change the name of the site.

I believe the twitchtv streams can be watched after the fact as well. But better ask Sullla or some other streamer about if there is something that they need to do beforehand.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

Short conversation with WPC. I sent them the promised gems, they said dyes will be connected soon, and we found out where their army is located:

I will post in the diplo thread as well for the sake of completeness.

FYI - you do need a twitch account to be able to chat during the stream... It only takes a few seconds, but anyone who doesn't want to miss any action may want to do it a few minutes in advance.

Well twitch keeps giving me some crap about captchas, but I'm watching, at least.
Merovech's Mapmaking Guidelines:
0. Player Requests: The player's requests take precedence, even if they contradict the following guidelines.

1. Balance: The map must be balanced, both in regards to land quality and availability and in regards to special civilization features. A map may be wonderfully unique and surprising, but, if it is unbalanced, the game will suffer and the player's enjoyment will not be as high as it could be.

2. Identity and Enjoyment: The map should be interesting to play at all levels, from city placement and management to the border-created interactions between civilizations, and should include varied terrain. Flavor should enhance the inherent pleasure resulting from the underlying tile arrangements. The map should not be exceedingly lush, but it is better to err on the lush side than on the poor side when placing terrain.

3. Feel (Avoiding Gimmicks): The map should not be overwhelmed or dominated by the mapmaker's flavor. Embellishment of the map through the use of special improvements, barbarian units, and abnormal terrain can enhance the identity and enjoyment of the map, but should take a backseat to the more normal aspects of the map. The game should usually not revolve around the flavor, but merely be accented by it.

4. Realism: Where possible, the terrain of the map should be realistic. Jungles on desert tiles, or even next to desert tiles, should therefore have a very specific reason for existing. Rivers should run downhill or across level ground into bodies of water. Irrigated terrain should have a higher grassland to plains ratio than dry terrain. Mountain chains should cast rain shadows. Islands, mountains, and peninsulas should follow logical plate tectonics.
