Also I miscalculated. I ignored yields from meeting Zanzibar and district yields.
If I can get all 7 trade routes going by T120 then I should be at around 125GPT.

What is your overall impression of Civ6?
Is it worth my time?

Hmmmmmmm.
In terms of SP, no, I don't think it's much better than a browser game unless you want massive focus on MM.
In terms of MP...maybe, but we need stability in terms of rules, we need a map editor. If we also had a version of pitboss I'd say yes. Without those things it depends on if as a community we embrace it.

Map editor seems unlikely at this point. If they were going to include one, I'd expect it to be out with the expansion.
Don't think I want to pay $80 for a game that isn't much better than a browser game and is missing key MP support features.

I expect that they will release a map editor as paid DLC, if at all.
Seems like Civ has fallen, civ 5 was junk, civ 6 isn't even a whole game really, what with the DLC adding content and multiple balance points. Unless they fgo the route of a full MP expansion I don't see how it's rectifiable, and the bean counters at 2K would never countenance that. Which is a shame, because civ 6 could be the best MP civ game ever. I don't think they will even enable mod production as that can't be easily monitised.

I think you are really overdoing it with the criticism here. Civ VI is a great game, although CIV IV was better for MP, yes. And there are very good browser games out there as well, at least before the freetoplay madness gripped the industry 5 years.

The only way we'll see another civ game with the features and gameplay that veterans want would be through another studio.
Sadly I don't think this will ever happen, but it is possible. Just look at what GGG (Grinding Gear Games) did with Path of Exile for instance. They made a spiritual successor to Diablo 2 to cater to the veterans and that game is a resounding success and can now stand on its own. The problem is that the TBS genre is so unpopular that the incentive is much lower for studios to try.

I think we need to be most careful when we discuss a topic such as "Is it worth buying". It's a subjective question, with objective reasoning.
I've played 9 games of Civ 4 Pitboss total. Just 9. Add in the half a dozen PBEMs on top of that. Civ 4 is possibly the greatest buy of my life in terms of hours entertained to cost, just in terms of time spent in RB games. How many games of Civ 6 would I need to play to make it worthwhile? For the base game, another half a dozen PBEMs? All of the Civ 4 value was based after it reached it's final patch, and we are playing Civ 6 on live patches. The complaint that we don't have a stable ruleset is probably unreasonable.
What I'm hoping is that this is the last patch to Vanilla Civ 6. With that we can then play PBEMs without running into troubles with changing patches. If that happens, then if Civ 6 came up in a sale it might be worth buying: it depends on the player base that goes with it and how we adapt to the problem of map making.
Map making and DLC are two pretty fucking huge problems though. Cornflakes has a work around, we are limited to 6 player PBEMs, and fragmentation if we ever go beyond banning DLC. Now I have no fucking clue how to make a map in civ 6. I have no idea how we balance for City states and specific city states. I have no idea if 4 to 6 player games will hold my interest, let alone other people.
We don't need mod making to enjoy a few games of Civ 6. What we need are a player base and some decent maps.
And as to the browser game comment...I haven't paid £50 to play a browser game, that's the bar it has to pass.
I think that if the game gets to half off in the summer sale, if R&F precipitates the end of vanilla civ patches, and if the player base holds out, then it might be worth buying Civ 6 as an MP game. But in no way is Civ 6 a great game.
