I moved our chariot, because it could have been killed easily on that hill tile. I had no idea that they had even requested we keep it there, since they were chatting with Ruff... not that I would have kept the unit there even if I had known. They have a ton of archers which are almost useless on the attack that easily could have covered their dog soldiers. Or, they could have moved those dog soldiers safely into their own territory (they started the turn on the tile north of the forested hill). I've said this a bunch of times: we are not going to put our war chariot in danger to cover for the stupid tactical moves that WPC makes.

I have the feeling that WPC will not be too happy with us after this war is over and we claim nearly all of the spoils. We're not deliberately trying to provoke them or anything, it's just that we don't mind all that much if they get angry at us later. WPC is hopelessly backwards technologically and will pose no threat at all going forward. They still do not seem to realize that they are effectively our vassals.

I think we knew the probably outcome of this war 6 months ago. It would be nice if we could get along with WPC in the future. Though... that's probably not going to happen, but like I said, we've had 6 months of warning. I really wouldn't say they are our vassals. That's kinda presumptuous since we might not be on good terms and they might just OB armies through if it comes to that. Best move might be to wipe them out eventually.

I'll probably get flak for this but I'm just going to float the idea of a joint attack with whoever is to their east to get rid of WPC if it comes to that. It might be the best move to get rid of someone who might play kingmaker/troll us for the rest of the game for someone who will actually maintain a safe border. They might even get attacked by their neighbors since they are so backwards and saving WPC isn't really an efficient use of our armies.

I suspect we'll have bigger fish to fry after this war. WPC will make a nice weak buffer. I'm not too concerned with their feelings. If they wanted more spoils, they should have composed a better stack that wouldn't be in danger. We are facing fewer units because zee Germans feel that WPC is their mortal enemy due to their early war. That is not our fault. We definitely have no obligation to cover units with our War Chariot. They could have left 1 spear on the forest hill to cover their wounded units, or like Sullla said, simply send them home. We need to keep our only scout in the area as safe as possible, to continue its mission.

Maybe we could tell them something along these lines:

Quote:Sorry, we really would like to use that War Chariot as an embedded reporter, to keep an eye on that front, to help with our war tactical planning. We would really prefer to keep it under the safety of your large stack. I hope you can understand. It would be impossible for us to get another unit over there to replace it, should it be killed.

But that's the thing. How do you plan on making them a buffer state if they don't want to go along with it.

I think we need to refocus here. Send WPC a quick message that Sullla didn't read the thread before playing and move on.

More importantly:

CivFr is stalling. How long has it been since our last diplo contact with them? What is going on in the CFC/CivFr war?

CivPlayers need to be pinged again NOW, while CFC won their war against the Spanish and the German war is still in doubt.

Well the team east of WPC is UniversCiv, and they don't talk much. If they attack WPC and we're still NAPed with WPC, I don't see why we would defend WPC. We are not in a defensive pact. Maybe we'd gift them some obsolete maces or something, but that's about it.

This is a very good point. I agree on principle.

Regardless of our future plans, lets now write to WPC and
A) Tell them we appreciate their heroic war efforts
B) tell we are impressed by their large army
C) wish them luck
D) apologize for the chariot

No deals, no promises, lets just be friendly team mates as long as possible. That will allow us to capture extra cities without diplo conflict.
Finished:

Maybe also tell them that our chariot receives no defensive bonuses, unlike spears or archers.
Furthermore, I consider that forum views should be fluid in width

What are they gonna do, send Dog Soldiers at us?

I'll draft something up to WPC pretty soon. Sorry, weekends as usual are pretty busy for me.
