The annoying thing is that if the "hidden stack" was south of Warendorf, they could have moved their stack 1E and arrived at Wesslburen in 1 fewer turns.

I wonder if the Germans would just maneuver a stack around the WPC stack and sack their ice cities to try and burn down WPC's stuff?
I don't think this affects the outcome of the German war that much, just how badly the partition will be split in our favor and how badly WPC will be angry at us for taking all 'their land.' I doubt we'll be able to keep a peaceful border long term. I wonder if they would take gold for cities or throw in a CFC fight where we take the brunt of the fighting (all they are good for is distraction anyway). As nice as keeping all of Germany to ourselves, the idea of fighting a 3 or 4 front war is not appealing.

What is this unit we have in Univers (?) land? Is this stuck due to closed borders or can we move it to the Spanish for some pillaging CFC-style?
How quickly can we get to Music, to build culture? Might be worth for fast-popping borders to 2nd and 3rd ring in the German cities. 3rd ring Worms culture will protect a lot of Webringen's tiles from pillaging. mh

I'm pretty sure the unit is a scout.

First we hope to take Webringen before Worms even comes out of revolt. Second our economy is pretty shit and a diversion for music away from the current techs risks us falling too far behind to be ready for CFC on t175.

Well, Music is required for Military Tradition, so not completely off track.
And the only reason for safeguarding the German towns is to help recover the economy. mh

It's a scout, it's close to the Apolyton-CivFr-Univers shared border, and we can't get through there since we have no OB with CivFr or Univers. I guess it can scout out the remaining Apolyton cities and then get back to us via the east (through former German lands). We're a long way from getting Music yet. We need to get Alphabet and Printing Press first, for a quick boost to our economy. Then Gunpowder for military security. Then we can probably assess the state of the game, but since we need Chemistry for the run towards Communism, I think I'd rather pick up Steel or Military Science than Military Tradition.

Ok, the Germans finished turn, and I have some bad news and some good news.
The really bad news is that the Germans have a longbow in Worms. The good news is that I believe they received the unit as a gift. The only real candidate for that that I can see would be Apolyton (I think we've talked about unit gifting with CivPlayers, and we would have seen a CivPlayers longbow going towards German lands). I believe the latter because they do not have a score increase that fits with a medieval tech, and we do have visibility on Weil der Stadt as well - no way they wouldn't have whipped out something there as well, if they knew they were to receive Feudalism. That said, I think we should move the scouting chariot 1NW now, so we can confirm the units in Webringen and can start the discussion on how to play our turn ASAP. The Germans also occupied the hill tile that WPC deserted, with 2 W2 axes and a W1 spear. Those units will be a pain to dislodge, but at the same time I think putting them there was a mistake, since they're now unable to have any real impact on the fight for the German cities.

Well, if we finish Alphabet this turn we'll be able to confirm whether the Germans could have built the longbow or not.

Quote:Zhuge Liang (Great General) has been born in Terasvin (CFC)! Two great generals, one each for CFC and the Spanish, which confirms the heavy fighting I had seen earlier. The line about the Germans adopting Vassalage was what led me to taking a renewed look at the C&D data. And then Apolyton goes for a golden age, likely with the goal of getting plenty of great people. However, I'm somewhat curious they didn't go for Mercantilism in that case, but it seems they value their trade routes.
