[No players] Big epic lurking - PB74

Anyone have issues with Gav liberating / giving two cities back to Greenline. Liberating I don't think people would. If for some reason he can't liberate, this game has good faith deals. Greenline is getting cities back for free but Gav is getting strategic culture so seems ok.

Yeah I would OK with using the "liberate" mechanic, but I'm less wild about capturing and straight gifting multiple cities just to screw with culture. I gave my two cents in his thread as it didn't seem like a huge deal.

Whilst I don't particularly like the liberate mechanic in the majority of cases, I think this is one scenario where it's fair: the the cities can be liberated, fine, but not gifted.

Which one of us hasn't done that though frown

I think, there are difference in the mechanic, if you liberate the city with a trade screen or with F1.
And I'm against it in both cases.
I'm for laxer city trades, but the trade itself shouldn't have (direct) influence to a third player.
I have no real problem, if Gav liberates all old sumerian citys, when he conquered india. But when india is still alive (and at war with him) ?

And this is explixit and intentional messing with a third player with the trade.
I would even forbid a liberation with F1.

Just to be clear, I'm mostly on the fence on this: I'm saying I can see both sides of the argument. I am neither for nor against the request and I do not want to make a decision on it; I leave that to lurkers with a stronger opinion.

I should probably state that if there were decent vassal mechanics (like if Greenline was Gavs vassal) then this would be a better reason for allowing liberation of cities. But we don't have working vassal mechanics or a working game theory for vassals so that's off the table for this game.

Not familiar with RB standards but I think, scooter already mentioned a valid and easy strategy: bombard and kill garrisons from sea until one is left.

I would probably do this anyways to reduce enemy forces. Picc doesn't have any long-term capacities, just a really big stack of units. Good way to reduce this number from a safe spot. Greenline has the opportunity to get his city back if he wants to

If he captures the city and leave minimal occupation forces, it should revolt back to its initial owner relatively quickly, so liberating should 'just' be accelerating the process ?

Reminder to self: Commodore has two civs worth of lands and astro islands.

Gav has about 5 civs worth of land.
