Finished at the end of the latest turn. I can swap to Nationhood (1 turn) but if everyone is at war with me, I was also thinking Merc (1 turn) as well. The Globe city is central to my empire and ready to start drafting.

This communication is intended to start a fruitful dialog and contains ideas, options and limits towards that end.

I am not currently interested in a slog vest (ie long, drawn out war) against the Calanthians. As such, I am inclined to pursue a peace agreement. However, the city of Maastricht would be a sticking point if that wasn't returned to me. You do know that you cannot hold it given the forces that I can bring to bear in the 7 turns that it will be culturally defenseless ... regardless of the number of types of units you can pile in there.

However, a 50-year NAP (non-aggression pact) is a little on the long side. That said, a 10 or 15 year / turn NAP is a little on the short side. I feel that there is room to barter with the time frame.

With regards to France ... a French Vassal of Calanthian is not in my interest either. And based on your public statements, it doesn't seem to be your desired future ("With hesitation I have accepted"). Now, if we can reach a peace agreement, I would consider returning Paris to France and not settling further West (actual plots to be determined when I see the game) as long as France agreed not to settler towards the GDs.

Ruff,

You seem to forget that you are now in war with every nation in our world. This your great army can’t cope with.

• We will not sign any peace treaties which are shorter than 50 turns.
  
• We will not give up any territories.
  
• You have to stop your conquest of France and give them back all territories and repay them for the city your raised.
  

If your peace proposal does not contain these three elements, then don’t bother to talk any further.

With these elements talking could result in an agreement.

Isk and I have been talking about a possible peace deal. His terms are pretty steep (50 turn NAP, he keeps the cities he has, I return cities to France and pay for razed cities).

Do you have any similar terms or deals with Isk? If not, then I think you have a great opportunity to take some pretty nice land in the North while he probably distracted in the South. Or you could join in the dog pile and trek down to my lands and help him take my cities.

Nope, don't have any deals, they aren't enforceable unless 1 side gives in to a demand. I am going to demand some happiness resources off him this turn to see if he is serious about wanting some kind of peace agreement.
I am willing to offer you a 10-turn peace deal for 300 gold to let you concentrate on matters at hand. I saw you had about 580 gold last turn so that isn't too steep I think.
All deals are off if this info is leaked out of course.

I like your proposal ... but how about this instead ... I agree to give you 400g as soon as possible in game (ie as soon as we stop our war in-game) but we remain at a phony war (ie you don't send forces against me) for 10 turns to see how Isk is going to play it while you get ready to attack his northern cities (or not - up to you).

He is currently running his diplo from a position of strength ... and I am quiet happy to let him think he is in a position of strength.

I didn't comment on this proposal before ... but what Para is basically asking me for is 300g for free ... we both know it will take him at least 10 turns to get any units down to threaten me ... so that 10t peace deal is worthless.

Thus my response ... how about I give you the gold at the end of the 10t when I don't see your units on my doorstep ... and his response ...
