[Spoilers PB23] Old Harry's attempt at civilizing AdrienIer

Peace ! Well on one front at least. Zerks spotted in viking lands, annoyingly. But knights and crossbows destroy these things so it's alright.

You want to start a war that will never end ? Because that's how you start a war that will never end.

That city was empty because I just got it back from Agent in the peace deal. He deleted the capturing unit I think. AND HE EVEN HAD THE NERVE TO ASK ME FOR WHITE PEACE ????!!! I proposed the white peace last turn because I saw the galley that could take the city. I thought I could use the 10t of peace to mount an unstoppable force of knights to destroy him, but if they were to consider playing the diplo game a little I might have reconsidered. Vikings have been trolling for the entire game, sniping workers and stuff, being the worst kind of neighbors ever. (PB22 spoilers)
Dreylin in team Portugal did the same to Dtay, worthy of being nicknamed North Korea. I'll quote GermanJoey in his thread there, "It isn't true that neighbors can't get along in these big AI-diplo pitboss games, [...] [some neighbors this game weren't best buddies] but just essentially agreeing to leave each other the hell alone and stay out of each other's affairs has been a huge, mutually-beneficial boon to each side." I accept the enormity of the irony of this situation. I fundamentally agree with this vision actually.
CH and I have been good friends (if two neighbors can truly be friends in a FFA Civ game) and he's been able to use that to his advantage, fighting a small early war against Whosit (not sure there was anything there) and taking a city from Agent. I have basically nothing on his border. But I'm confident enough that he won't attack, he has the same paper defense on his side of the border.

As an aside on the whole war and civ philosophy thing, I've got TGL and the parthenon queued in Moai city. Because MOAR WONDERS.

One of the workers they sniped was unprotected (Spear vs Axe counts as unprotected) cutting down a forest in the BFC of one of their cities, outside your culture, just after you killed their exploring Chariot. And IIRC they gave you a turn to stop cutting down the forest and retreat before taking the worker. Have they taken any others? I thought that was Agent and the barbs?

I quite like Dreylin, he's pretty funny. Dunno about Ipecac, haven't read any of his threads yet.

Yeah that one I can understand, but there were about 5 workers sniped in total. One DoW was just to snipe 3 workers (one mining near the southern border where he used a galley to land on him, the other mining near the western horse city and the last one on the peninsula) and I think there might have been an other occasion. Individually those snipes may make sense (although I'm pretty sure he had to delete one or two of those prizes so some where just pure troll) but as a whole they decided that they had no friends and would strike opportunistically anyone around them. That's a good strategy if you plan on completely destroying the civ in question (PB18)
Like you just did to Dreylin there
but when you're doing very minimal damage to someone you're just pissing them off for minimal return. I very much intend to make them understand that. It's my Don Quijote mentality, I'm pretty sure that won't change how they play the game.

And FWIW I also like Dreylin, he joined the PB65 team recently when we said we needed a backup turnplayer and he's been a good teammate.

OH can you play tonight's turn ? Else I'll have to ask for a pause

Don't whip too much, there's a GA coming in like 5t, and bring units to MoM city. I can't think of anything else

Swapped maps with CH, whipped Empangenia and Hlatikulum as those units seemed urgent.

A frontal assault on Zero Insertion could work, but you'd need another worker to build the two roads to get your 2-movers onto the gold tile. I'm guessing you have a very short window before Ipecac gets a counter to Knights, so if you don't strike in the next couple of turns it'll be too late. The spy will tell you more, but not soon enough really.

I pretty much agree about the attack. I was just waiting for the HAs and the GG to be in range.

The game is on !

First pic : the worker on the plain just put one turn on a road, next turn he finishes, the two workers that are on the hill to its east build a road NE of the gold and the 2 mover stack moves forward. There's one more knight on the chariot's tile. The units on the grassland hill (highlighted on the bottom left) plus the praet/CB/cata trio from Hluhlu will be one tile behind.

Second pic : 2 knights ready to hit next turn (I think/hope he'll burn his gold on archer->LB upgrades there to leave his coffers empty for his (I'm assuming) axes in zero insertion. One of the axes NW of the city is c2 cover so the longbow won't have odds and won't rampage my countryside. If I can't take the city I can still pillage stuff with my knights, CB and Praet.

I'm not fully prepared for this, as I have lots of 1 movers lagging behind, but the more I wait the more pikes I'm likely to see. Good thing is, I can always call everything off if the spy sees scary stuff in zero insertion.
