Quote:me: Hey
Leningrad, 1995WorldSeries, Archangel or Nazareth?
which one(s)?
novice.rb: hey
Archangel, I think
nice move btw
me: which one?
novice.rb: your eastern fleet movement
me: ah, thank you
when did you spot it?
novice.rb: this turn
crucially, we spotted it this turn, but Darrell didn't
me: so moving your fleet near the ruins of Hebron was dumb luck?
novice.rb: no, we saw it last turn too
but we weren't prepared for you forting through the island
or rather, we couldn't do anything about that scenario
I should probably stop feeding you free info

me: lol
thought I kept it out of your recon range
then you moved the fleet
and I was debating in my thread who spotted it, or whether it was dumb luck
resolved that debate at least
well-played good sir

novice.rb: so were you always planning to fort through the island, or was that in response to our fleet movement?
me: heh, should probably not answer that, but what the hell
the fleet was not intended for Darrell
novice.rb: good to know
our vigilance pays off, but hurts our ally
me: definitely
most important recon flight of the war perhaps
very surprised Darrell didn't spot it with the airship out of Thebes
novice.rb: yeah
he's rushing through the turns every morning
he really displayed criminal negligence this turn though
make him regret it
me: yeah, I've been picking at his tactical errors in my thread
all the while continuing to have my cities burned :P
novice.rb: lol
I feel like we've done a lot of the legwork though
me: idk, he's burned more cities
you sunk more ships
his bombers did a lot of the work for him, keeping my fleet away
last I checked, he's at 10 cities burned, you're at 9
couting Archangel
novice.rb: well your northwestern core was indefendable
we had to cross a freaking ocean
Darrell just took potshots from his home cities
me: yeah, that helped him a lot
oh, btw, while I have you
you burned nine of my cities
which 9 Indian cities do you want to lose in return?
novice.rb: hehe
The western ones, I suppose
and Hostile Takeover
me: alright, will see what I can do
to settle the score
novice.rb: You really don't need to bother, Darrell's cities are much juicier
We won't feel left out
me: btw, do I get the save tonight?
novice.rb: I think so
Spaceman's playing
me: alrighty, thanks for the heads up
anyway, I g2g
pleasure as always
novice.rb: likewise
see you later

This is going to be a great turn, I can raze three Egyptian cities. But first, I have been presented with a tantalizing opportunity.
![]() ![]() I checked the game options, and unless I missed something, the cheesy AP victory is not banned. Shoot is ready to put this game out of its misery, and I'm pretty sure he would vote for me. Between the two of us, we can vote me religious leader. I really am at a loss of what to do, to be honest. I have always considered the AP victory option to be cheesy and underhanded, and feel like it would be an unfitting ending to a really good game. It would mean I more or less rob Darrell/NoSpace of their victory. But despite it all, I want to win. So, this is an occasion where I would really welcome lurker input. What should I do? Also, if the AP victory really is banned as it should be, could someone inform me of it? It would resolve this debate pretty quickly.
Oddly enough, knowing the entire history of the game, sort of sounds like a fitting end.

I've got some dirt on my shoulder, can you brush it off for me?
Well, it looks like the choice is between...

I have no idea whether it's banned or not, but I'd say go for the win if it's not banned. I don't think it's too much of a spoiler to tell you that NoSpace7 and Darrell sound like they're going to reload the game to before your war and run their space race against AIs. So you wouldn't really be depriving them of a satisfying conclusion.
Up to you really. It's near the end of the game anyway, so it's hardly as much of a cheese victory as the folks who abuse it to win in medieval times. Personally I wouldn't feel too bad about going for it at this late a stage in a game, but that's just me. The game's already run a good length and as far as I'm aware it's not against any rules to try for it here. If folks are really keen you can always play on after the victory anyway.

Here's what the rules appear to be for your game:
No mention of Apostolic Palace in there ![]() If it turns out not to be accepted, you can always reload at this turn and play on without it. Personally, I'd go for it.

100% go for it. If it works it's totally your opponents' fault for not
a) Razing the AP city, b) Avoiding having a city of the AP religion or c) Having enough AP votes to prevent it, or making sure that one player always has enough votes alone that the option can't come up, ... any of which were easily available to them. The AP victory is a silly mechanic but it's not banned. Just don't be disappointed if they figure out a way to stop it somehow. SevenSpirits Wrote:Just don't be disappointed if they figure out a way to stop it somehow. How could they stop it? The only method I know of is to create a colony without the AP religion present - aside from razing the AP city of course. How long is the wait between the vote and diplomatic victory. I can't say I'm particularly familiar with this mechanic.
One gifts their AP cities away, making the victory invalid. If shoot has missionary-leaden sub though...
