But to be clear, getting this kind of deal, does still require us to park a sizeable army at the CFC border for either
a) we decide to attack a 3rd party and need to deter any CFC intervention
or
b) we are worried CFC might run over a neighbour and we want to deter them from doing so. or want to intervene.
I can see how the deal gives us both more ease of mind, but in terms of army management and military build-up there seems to be no difference to a non-NAP situation. What about a 5turn cool down period instead of 2turn. I know it is details but a short cool down period, does not seem to make much sense.

If we get the NAP, making the beeline to Communism for State Property becomes a definite possibility again.

There are two possibilities - a window to void the NAP and a window to declare war. If we agree on the former, the NAP can be voided but the voiding team doesn't necessarily have to declare war immediately. Of course, the other team could declare war after the NAP is void...
Anyway, I don't think we have any intentions to delete our drafted maces and such so I'm not sure it matters if we need to keep a few units on the CFC border at all times.

You are forgetting about the incredibly likely case that we don't wish to attack anyone.

Good job with CFC there, Scooter. And I become more and more convinced that they denying CivFr's GM mission to their capital was a huge strategic mistake for CFC.

Nice job scooter.
I still say we should try and swing Poly to our favor and try to use ti secure a NAP with them.

You are forgetting about the incredibly likely case that we don't wish to attack anyone. Oh, incredibly likely until T200?
Anyway, I think that is covered by b), is it not? CFC runs over another neighbour, gobbling up more land, and we will not consider intervening, or even threatening with intervention??? In either case we have to keep an army at their borders.

It is incredibly likely we don't war till then, and if so we will just make the garrison when planning the attack.
As for b) we'll likely see it coming well in advance, and be able to build a force - regardless, we don't need to maintain one there.

Why would we need an army there if we have a nap and don't want war??

we have what, 2 markets, and 0 grocers? doesnt seem like we'll be building many banks soon, then, and we certainly won't be revolting to mercantilism.
