BILL can be a good word - it is a weapon and another Kill Bill connection.

While I think the "X clue would be better for this set of words" line of reasoning is overrated and can be dangerous, in this case this possible connection doesn't make sense, since the clue would just be KILL in that case.

It's unfortunate that there's no widely accepted national word (e.g. Mexican, Canadian) for a US resident, so they are generally called Americans (correct in that they live in North America, but not specific as to which nation). This leads many US citizens to call their nation "America", without any sense of ignoring the other inhabitants of two continents. For most people in the US, America means the USA, e.g. American flag, American style football, American TV shows, etc.

I had TEMPLE near the top of my list of answers, since most religions are international in nature. And BEIJING is very much a local place, not at all international for the huge number of Chinese citizens. I don't understand why that word is so popular.

I'm thinking Beijing and Band because of The International. Otherwise, it seems like a strange clue as people are from many countries.
